How to get a good clean catch specimen: 1)Clean with the wipes as noted above 2) Start to pee a little bit 3)Move the cup into the stream to catch the mid-stream specimen 4) Wipe off urine on outside of cup with toilet paper 5)Cap cup 6)Wash hands Do not: -Neglect the cleaning -Submit the initial portion of the stream (will be contaminated with too many skin cells and bacteria that “wash off” with the start of the stream) -Hold the cup against your skin (can also be contaminated with skin cells and skin bacteria) -Forget that a little urine on your hand won’t hurt you -Neglect to wash your hands anyway _These instructions courtesy of your friendly neighborhood primary care doctor. My sympathies. I have trouble peeing in general (shy bladder, I guess), much less on command. And no, I haven’t figured out how to do it without making a mess. Also, I’ve never in my life received any kind of wipes or helper cup. I’m a bit perplexed by that. ---

As long as it’s not a drug screen you can ask the nurses for a glove to wear if you like. Any medical environment has a bazillion gloves around. ---

Please don’t sue me-I have few assets._ I find sitting posture important as well - I undress enough so that I can spread my legs as widely as possible so reaching under with the cup is easier. Again, I am not particularly grossed out by a bit of pee on my hands, I have done enough diaper duty with assorted baby sitting jobs, niece/nephews and goddaughters that the usual baby/kid bio-contamination doesn’t bother me [well, vomit still bothers me, I am a sympathy puker. But shit, pee and snot are pretty neutral to me.] ---
