I went through a phase in high school where I wore make up, but I haven’t touched the stuff since college.

I use moisturizer twice a day and I really do have GREAT skin. I don’t need it, I don’t want to spend the time on it, and I look fine without it.

Honestly, I’ve just never understood it. My mother never wore makeup, and I’ll be 19 in a month and have yet to _ever_ wear any.

It just seems like another thing to spend time and money on, and neither of those are things I really have extra of.

What **Gundy** said.

Also, we must face facts. Not all women have terrific even-toned skin, and if they feel that base or concealer helps with that, then I’m all for it.

Make-up should accentuate the positive facial features you have and if necessary, lessen the focus on your not-so-favorable features.

I’ve always been a fan of minimal makeup, if any.

I almost never wear it, and when I do, only a little bit. My SO has yet to say a word about it whether I wear it or I don’t. Hell, he thinks I’m beautiful when I first wake up in the morning, and I KNOW what I look like then. So, I usually don’t, because if he doesn’t care, I don’t either.

Bottom line? Whatever works.

What works - IMO, the following:

1. Women who feel good about themselves when interacting with people - if that means they have make-up on, or don’t, that’s fine - the point is, they are interacting with me with confidence and comfort in themselves, which is the most attractive thing

2. Women with conspicuously too much make-up, or with that yucky border around the edge of their face where the make-up is either clearly the wrong shade for their skin or the layers are clearly visible does NOT work.

3. A woman considered “beautiful” by society’s standards looks beautiful either way

4. Women who maybe are not 100% beautiful by society’s standards but can enhance their beauty in a natural-appearing way with make-up - so they enhance their best physical features and are able to embrace point #1 above - get extra points for maximizing what they have

5. In my experience with women, a little mascara and lipstick is usually enough 90% of the time

6. My wife - who is empirically beautiful, not just IMHO, according to people who see the picture on my desk - almost never wears make-up. Two kids, too much hassle. But when she does, she does so lightly, and it represents a nice change. I think this is true for most women

7. Trusting what is the right amount of make-up - which features you should make-up and how much stuff to use in order to put on minimal make-up while feeling the best you can about yourself - is an art that many, many women either don’t appear to know or they don’t trust themselves to get right.

This is just IMHO. There’s always risk when commenting on this type of topic - I hope I did not offend anyone; if I did, please let me apologize in advance.
