Visually attractive, but kissing-wise, it’s like making out with sandpaper. Either shave an hour before kissing me or let it grow into a full-fledged beard, thankyouverymuch.

The five o’clock shadow is key. I don’t like when it looks endlessly cropped, though. It actually has to appear a little messy and unmaintained. The whole reason it’s hot is because the guy was too lazy/cool to shave.

Hot, but only if it’s an accident (or out of occasional laziness). I’d think it a bit odd if it was a look the guy was trying to cultivate. Like, if he was never clean-faced in the a.m. and never let it grow out into a beard.

Stubble hurts. I’ve never found it attractive. When I see it on a man, I immediately wonder how long it’s been since he brushed his teeth. Which is ridiculously judgmental o fme because I often go long periods without shaving my legs, but you did ask for honest opinions.
I don’t like mutache/beards either. I’ve dated two men with facial hair, and had a couple of LTRs where the guys tried it out. In all cases, the hair got yicky when they ate, and smelled bad. Unless he’s willing to wash his face after eating, I’m not into it.

Speaking of stubble…
When Kid Kalhoun was little, I helped him with his Halloween costume. He wanted to be Vincent Van Gogh (on account of he could carry a an ear to school on his paint pallet and be the coolest dude evah).
Evidently, the drawn-on stubble evoked a different impression. When he came home from school he said he had decided to be Don Johnson. 😛

As many have said, stubble can look good on some men, but it rarely _feels good_ on any man.
Me, I shave in the morning, I get stubbly by night. It usually takes about three days to grow out enough where it goes soft.
Interestingly, every woman I’ve dated has _loved_ my three day+ growth. I don’t grow a beard awesomely well (95% of it comes in, but the 5% missing just happens to be the part that connects the mustache to the beard, grrrr!), but that smooth short growth looks a LOT better than day-old stubble or a three-week beard, and doesn’t scratch the sensitive lady parts at all.

It can look cool or dirty, depending.
It FEELS horrible. I dislike kissing men who are cleanshaven as a general rule, particularly men with thick, aggressive beards. They are pretty much never truly smooth-faced, even right after shaving, and it hurts if you are getting into serious passionate kissing.
Gimme a moustache and beard every time.

I like stubble on some guys–it really depends on the individual.
Extreme example: I think Hugh Laurie is the epitome of hot as House, but when he shaves off the stubble, he doesn’t do much for me at all. Not sure why. Usually my aesthetic preferences run toward somewhat androgynous looking European guys (most of the guys whose look I like in a purely aesthetic sense are probably gay), but on the right guy the stubbly rugged look works well for me too (for example, Indiana Jones).
Don’t much like the carefully “manscaped” stubble thing, though. Has to be rugged and natural, not ‘boy band member trying to look tough.’

No damn stubble. No damn facial hair at all, actually (assuming “attractive”=hot; I’ve known many nice-looking older gentlemen with genteelly attractive beards, but I’m assuming that’s not what the OP’s getting at 😉 ). Yes, I know this is unfair, especially since I myself refuse to shave anything whatsoever, but facial hair is just plain not hot.
