I thought it was a site you went to talk about fun topics with your friends not posting photos of your new house and car. Shouldn’t that stuff be shared with your closet friends and family privately? it’s just something about a grown person bragging about stuff that comes off as odd to me. ---

Facebook is just a tool, if your friend stands in front of your house with a megaphone bragging about their vacation, you don’t blame the megaphone. ---

Actually, I think it has everything to do with your circle of friends. Mine is filled with politics, and how “evil” the Obama is. (I’m a lefty living in Texas) My GF, let me look at hers, and hers was all music and animal rescue type stuff. Not ONE political post on there. So I’d say FB is hardly uniform to say the least. ---

If seeing photos of your friends being happy and excelling at life makes you upset, the problem isn’t with your friends. And seriously if you don’t like someone enough to be happy for them when they accomplish something, you should remove them from your friend list. ---

Facebook can be seen as a place to brag about your life because everyone has friends or family that seem to exist just to live-blog their oh-so-wonderful life on there. Also remember Facebook has thumbs up but no thumbs down buttons (although that supposedly is being worked on), so people tend to get nothing but positive feedback unless someone actually cares to type a disparaging comment and look like the bad guy. ---

I was forced to use Facebook, kicking and yelling all the way, when my older son had his first child. They put EVERYTHING on Facebook - all the pictures, updates, etc., so I had no real choice. In spite of making myself as private as possible, I’m now getting bombarded by friend requests from people I used to know and have no interest in hearing from. And because my sons’ friends have ‘friended’ me, I now get updates from all of their vast network of friends, as well. The whole thing just makes my head hurt. But they’ve got me over a barrel because I really want to see the grandbaby updates. ---
