I’ve just heard of a garden centre and farm shop run by an open prison here in the UK. It’s called Serving Thyme. ---

I haven’t read them all yet, so hope no duplications. A waxing studio here is called The Screamin’ Peach. (makes me think of Tom Robbins’ ‘peachfish’ references) In my St. Louis commute 30+ years ago, I regularly saw a semi for A. Goodenough Box company. No idea if that was the owner’s name or not, but I imagined a brainstorming business naming session where someone suggested that ‘All anyone really wants is a good enough box, that’s all’. ---

There’s a Vietnamese restaurant in Seattle, I believe, called Pho King Awesome. Elon Musk’s tunneling outfit is called The Boring Company. Apple Corp. HQ’s address is One Infinite Loop, which I think is clever. ---

I was in the Baltimore area one day and saw a sign on a shabby building that just said “Chinese Boys,” with an arrow pointing seemingly to the back of the building. Without any context or further explanation I thought it was hilarious. I walked to the back and discovered, to no great surprise, that it was a Chinese take-out joint. I took a picture of the sign and showed it to several people who all thought it was equally amusing. ---

Jakarta had a hole-in-the-wall restaurant called Beergasm. Of course, I had to go there, even though I don’t like beer much. I ordered beer (of course) and mac and cheese. It wasn’t bad. ---

I was just reminded that I was once involved in a lawsuit involving the National Assn. of Postal Supervisors, a fine organization with an unfortunate acronym, given many people’s view of the US Postal Service. ---

I just remembered a story from the distant past. Berk was a UK pharma company. It was subject to a series of takeovers over the years, and is now, so far as I am aware, part of Teva. Back at the start of this process Berk was taken over by the US company Armour. The UK sales reps were told that they now had to announce themselves as Armour-Berk. The story ran that this was the company’s most successful period, purely from the increased sales resulting from the upswelling of sympathy that the hapless reps received. “Armour-Berk” is, in an estuary accent, a homophone of “I’m a [berk](https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=berk)” j ---

There’s a “What the Pho” in St. Petersburg, too. A little off-topic, but a long time ago in D.C. there was a Chinese restaurant called Madame Chao’s. Except they didn’t bother with the apostrophe. Made trips there more exciting. It’s a chain, I think, but there’s an alternative health/chiropractic clinic called “Thoracic Park.” ---

In College Station, Texas, there’s a laudromat with a bar called Harvey Washbangers. Fairly clever because it’s near Harvey Street. So I googled other establishments like this, and found one here in Dallas with an even better name: Bar of Soap. ---

In the 70’s in the small town I grew up in there was a Disco Drugs. Don’t know if it was a family name, a shortening of Discount, or if they specialized in Ecstasy. ---

Many years ago I figured that somebody HAD to have used the store name “Best Little Warehouse in Texas”. When I googled it, I found that I was right. I drive by this place every day, so I guess I’m so used to it that it didn’t occur to me that it’s funny. It is a thrift craft store, taking donations of crafting and unusual items to recycle into artsy things, which are resold really cheap It’s called ‘Who Gives A Scrap’. Ther are two in this state, so maybe others elsewhere.
