We have a winnah! In his original appearance in Showcase #34, it was noted that _anything_ shrunk by the White-Dwarf Material method blew up if left shrunk. Except Ray. Something in his makeup allowed him to remain shrunk indefinitly.

> Alright, you want harder?

Yes, I do. When do the harder ones come?

First, I challenge your claim that Ray Palmer had an innate power other than his white-dwarf star gizmo. But I await your answer.

_The Blackhawks became Super-Heroes for a while. Name…oh, say…one of their Super-Hero identities (and describe the gawd-awful costume for the character you picked)._
Olaf was “The Leaper” and his costume looked like a silvery suit of armor.

_Sugar and Spike had a friend who was a genius. They also had a nemesis. List each of the character’s names._
Bernie the Genius. Little Arthur.

_In Bob Bolling’s magnificent L’il Archie strip, name L’il Betty’s cat._
Yawn. Li’l Penis.

_What was the name of Stanley’s Monster, PRE-Crisis?_
Spot, er, Thpot.

Name the Four Realities.

Who’s crazy about Rand Race?

The four realities mean nothing to me at the moment, but Rand Race? Maggie! Hopey! No, which one’s the fat one? I wish I took my LandR with me when I moved.

Here’s one: who was the first mutant (publication chronology, not continuity chronology) in the Marvel Universe?

Oh, _that._ I cry foul on that one; it’s not a “power,” it’s just a unique characteristic that allows his devices to work on him.

It’s not a power any more than the fact that Lyle Norg’s not allergic to his own formula. Ray Palmer couldn’t use that “power” to fight crime without his white-dwarf fragment.

I suppose this is the place to point out that there will be a new [_Justice League_](http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/jl/) animated series on the Cartoon Network beginning November 17. Heroic characters will be:

Green Lantern (John Stewart)
Wonder Woman
The Flash (Wally West)
Batman
Martian Manhunter
Hawkgirl
Superman

Aquaman will apparently appear in at least one episode since their webpage has an image of him. Villains will include the Joker, Lex Luthor, Solomon Grundy and Mongul. Series is produced by the same folks who gave us _Batman: The Animated Series_; _Superman_ and _Batman Beyond_. Mark Hamill voices Joker and Grundy; Kevin Conroy returns as Batman; Clancy Brown is Luthor again (see [IMDB](http://us.imdb.com/Title?0275137) for full cast list). This show will make everyone forget the _Superfriends._ This show will \*_kick ASS!_

I disagree: Ray Palmer has the “metagene” (from some invasion crossover, I believe). Disqualifying him for being able to survive something that would kill anyone else would be like disqualifying Matter-Eater Lad since ANYONE could eat poison (even though ME-Lad was the only one who could do it and live).

We need a referee. Where’s Chaim? (CMKeller)

Anyway…

It was Bernie the BRAIN, but I’ll give it to you.

The monster’s actual name was Massachusetts, though he was called Thpot by Stanley, so close enough.

No score for L’il Betty’s cat

And, I’ll have to shamefully conceed your two questions. I know that Rand Race has to do with Love and Rockets, but…I was aparently the only person in the world who didn’t like L&R.

I’m stumped on the Four Realities. And I suspect I’m gonna kick myself when you tell me.

**Scurvy** : First mutant? Um…It depends how you count. I suspect you’re thinking of Sub-Mariner, but he isn’t a mutant, although there’ve been some later attempts to make him one. Professor X was the first X-Man to appear on panel, wasn’t he? You’ve got Miss America, but I don’t think she was a mutant back then. I give.

Wasn’t it called a “paragene?” I can dig out my Daily Planet “Invasion! Extra” to make sure. I still say that’s not a power, but as he is the author of the famous Legion helpfile I’ll accept Chaim’s ruling.

I give.

Rand Race is, indeed, a character from Love & Rockets, and it’s Maggie who’s gaga over him.

The Four Realities are the layers of Twinks, Chips, Hoops and Slats that beans have to swim down through to battle the Hoi-Polloi for their Chow. From Tales of the Beanworld.

Were you going to ask me anything new?

What, according to Scott McCloud, are the earliest known examples of comics?

On Earth-2 and post-Crisis Solo Earth, was the Trylon dismantled after the 1939 World’s Fair?

Oo! Oo! I know this one!

That would be ancient Egyptian wall painting ( **not** hieroglyphics!), circa 1300 BC.

I figured you’d won, by finding out my secret vunlnerablitly: Independant comics from after about '85. But I’ll win on golden and silver age 😉

Caramel was L’il Betty’s cat.

**Miller** beat me to the McCloud answer, and the answer is “No” to the second one, as the Trylon and Perisphere became home to the All Star Squadron (who has unfortunate initials.)

Anyway, if I’m still in the game:

A softball question: In the Barks comics, Unca $crooge has three main nemesises. Nemesi? Whatever. Name them.

A harder one: Which Metal Man had a robot babe of his own and what was she called?

Slightly easier: Who turned down a JLA membership, back in the '60s?

Finally, a Superman question:
What does “Slow Kryptonite” do, and to whom?

The Beagle Boys. Did they ever have individual names?

It was indeed Tin, but the girlfriend wasn’t Tina…that was what they all called Platinum. Tin’s girlfriend was “Nameless.”

The plural of “nemesis” is “nemeses.”

**Chaim** : You’re welcome to particpate (although it means I have to toss all the Legion trivia questions. I mean, what’s the point? 😃 ), but I’d like a ruling on the “doesn’t explode when shrunk” thing too! **Fiver** and I _need_ your opinion, man! 😉

The Beagle Boys (en masse) are one nemesis. You’ve got two more to go. They didn’t have names (except Grandpa Beagle…who’s name I may have misremembered) but they did have 176-671, 167-671 numbers. And one of 'em liked prunes.)

Tin and Nameless is/are correct.

Metamorpho is correct.

**Otto:**
**Captain Marvel** : Shazam! (Solomon,Hercules,Atlas,Zeus,Achilles,Mercury)
**Captain Marvel Jr.** : Captain Marvel! (doesn’t stand for anything, but he gets the Capt. Marvel recipe)
**Mary Marvel** : Shazam! (Selene, Hippolyta, Ariadne, Zephyrus, Aurora, Minerva) and a much lamer group of powers. Aurora for beauty? How useless is that when fighting telepathic evil space-worms or Frog-Men from Venus?)
**Freckles Marvel:** Fraud, no word
**Uncle Marvel:** Fraud, no word
**Trixie Marvel:** One-shot appearance: powers from a misrouted Captain Marvel lightning bolt, so standard Captain Marvel recipe.
**Fat/Tall/Hillbilly Marvel:** Lieutenet Marvels- Shazam, the Captain Marvel recipe. Only worked if said at the same time that Captain Marvel said his word.
**Shazam:** (in his younger days) Had a word that I can’t remember (with Babylonian Gods, IIRC)
**Black Adam:** Shazam, but different Gods…Shu, Hershef, Amon, Zehuti, Anpu, Menthu (I think these were changed, post-Crisis)
**Hoppy, The Marvel Bunny:** Shazam. I don’t think the recipe was ever given.
**Cecebeck Marvel:** Shazam. I think she has the standard Captain Marvel Recipe.

I admit I had to look up some of Black Adam’s Gods. Is that allowed? We haven’t said if that’s allowed or not.

Well, since I’ve been doing it all along, I’d say it’s allowed. I’m not out to prove anything here; I’m just exulting in discussing all this silliness with someone.

Most of your questions from last night have been answered (teach me to go to bed!).

But of the ones remaining, Slow Kryptonite affects humans the way standard green K affects Kryptonians.

# Uncle Scrooge’s other nemeses were Magica De Spell and Glomgold.

Which two DC writers have journeyed to Earth-1?

In his first appearance, Archie insisted people call him by a nickname. No one ever did. What was that nickname?

Who was Dexter Giles, and who was the assassin who impersonated Giles in an attempt to kill the super-hero Giles was most closely associated with?

I think Dexter was the curator of the Flash museum, but darned if I can recall an assassin coming after him.

As for the “not exploding from a white dwarf star” thing, I’ll say it’s a legitimate super-power. However, I don’t think it’s purely unique to Ray Palmer, because didn’t both Jean Loring and her new hubby use the White Dwarf stuff to shrink in one of the “Sword of the Atom” specials that followed the miniseries?
