There was a Woodstock 50 planned? I dunno. Maybe I have my head stuck in the sand, but I don’t actively avoid pop culture knowledge, and I had never heard of this. So perhaps they could have invested in a bit more advertising… ---

events like this normally don’t need to run too many ads, there are news articles that promote it. There was a good amount of coverage when it was announced earlier this year. ---

It definitely wasn’t promoted as well as, say, Coachella. I had the Woodstock '94 soundtrack in junior high, it was great. I was not impressed with Woodstock '99 though, and looks like I wouldn’t be too impressed with Woodstock 50 either if it had happened. ---

I live in the general area, though not close enough to be directly affected. There’s certainly been a lot of local publicity, and not everyone’s happy about the idea. It’s true the site routinely hosts large NASCAR crowds, but it’s also true that traffic during those events is horrendous (the location of hills, lake, and wetlands means that everything has to funnel through quite a small area, including through traffic to other places entirely.) I was a little too young to pull off getting to the first one – I would have needed parental cooperation, and wouldn’t have been likely to get it. I think I may be a little too old for this one; though it’s probably at least as much both that I don’t deal well with crowds, and that I can’t afford to take three days off that time of year. Last I heard, they weren’t going to offer one-day tickets. Also, last I heard, the main promoters were insisting that they’ll find other funding and it’s still going to happen. I think that looks pretty dubious; but I might be wrong. ---
