Word for Word. (game)

miasma—>ring

During the Black Death, the “miasma” or corrupt air was often blamed for the plague. It was believed that to counteract this, one should sing hymns or ring bells. link

Who’s looking over their shoulder now, Shade? Ha!
new word:
buttermilk

belladonna regains the lead. Qis gets the -1 he asked for. The excitement mounts.

SCORES

Shade, using Google in WORD FOR WORD is like using anabolic steroids in Major League Baseball: Not only allowed, but encouraged.

Mudd alters his sig in a lame effort to provide incentive for postings:

The site goes on to list the minimum system requirements for shopping online at the U.S mint, in which they mention

That page can be found here

Right, next word: dodecahedron

toe–>mint

Both are both a verb and a noun.

And who’s perilously exposed at the top?

new word: quill

modemmilk

Gateway make modems. Their logo is a cow, who makes milk.

New word: phobos

See what I mean, Bella?

Larry, am I allowed to play following one of my own words, or should I wait for someone else to post, and then continiue from their?

…their post? Sorry.

but Shade, darling, my word wasn’t milk, it was buttermilk. I submit that the modems to gateway to box logo to animal represented to that animal’s liquids to processing plant to buttermilk is a bit too tenuous to apply. Could someone else enter a vote on that?

new word: kiss

to be proactive, I want to point out that “quill” is used in a lot of websites/fanfic pages/book awards titles. I feel that that should not be a valid link. Along those lines, I think the mint/modem connection was pretty weak too. By that reasoning, anything mentioned on the internet would have been an invalid word. Does anyone agree? Disagree?

Naturally, I agree!

mortician

New word: lambent

map

I found a map of Lambent Flats at http://www.geocities.com/dranak2000/Maps/map-lambent_flats.htm

My word: Baldric

Kiss and Mortician are both heavy metal bands. Is that a point?

New word: tessellation

washcloth

Rabies

“Kissed” is a movie about a female mortician who has sex with her “clients” (not as gross a movie concept as it sounds).

Rabies —> banjo

Otto - I think the kiss-mortician word combo was past the five post statute but you bring up a good point. If two people challenge a word combo and they each have differing relationships for the combo, what then? We’ll leave that up to Mr. Mudd.
pharoah

I don’t understand this game at all, but it does remind me of another game I was taught long ago and far away, so maybe I’ll start a thread for a game of that later. Thanks, I think.

rabies—> washcloth

If you are bitten by a dog you suspect has rabies, you should cover the wound with a washcloth to protect it and then go to the hospital. site

New word: brobdinagian

Sorry, I thought I saw someone else referring to milk. OK, gateway->cow->buttermilk. Same reasoning - cows produce buttermilk (milk-cream, apparently). I still think this is valid. Come on, someone else pipe up.

Sorry, are you saying quill is not fair because its too hard to think of an unrelated word, or that it’s related to dodecahedron or what?

Yeah, maybe I agree with milk/modem.

New word: disk
