In the category ‘Small blessings’, I just discovered that Word on my Mac shows dark mode.

Quick background: MacOS does allow dark mode (i.e. white letters on dark background) for a while now, but it is up to individual applications to also implement that. MS Word didn’t do so for a long time and also did not have a dark mode setting of its own, forcing me to look at an eye-scorching white screen unless I tried a few tricks with other drawbacks (i.e. inverted colours or so).

And now, without any fanfare, Word suddenly does what I’ve desired for so long. I never thought I’d say this, but: thanks, Microsoft!

They seem to be rolling this out in waves. My personal Office account doesn’t have this feature (yet) but my work Office account does.
