I was sure there had to be two U’s, and after CUTUP I was completely lost at sea. So I stepped away for a bit and after a few minutes came the “Duh!” moment. I was left with HUTCH or BUTCH, and the former seemed more likely. Phew, indeed. Too close for comfort. ---

I nearly spent my third guess just on an elimination guess until I finally thought of a candidate. ---
