Came back to it. Wordle 433 5/6 ⬜⬜⬜🟨⬜ 🟨🟨⬜⬜⬜ ⬜⬜🟩⬜🟨 ⬜🟩🟩⬜🟨 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 STARE ROUGH FLOOR BROWN IRONY After step 4 I was pretty sure the middle three letters had to be RON, and there aren’t that many English-language words that would end that sequence with any letter (from those still available) other than Y. (Any?) So I was down to guesses β€œCRONY” and β€œIRONY” and guessed the latter first. ---

But SURER and now RUDER do, because though the root may be common, I rarely see it in the comparative form. IME, I tend to see β€˜more sure’ or β€˜more rude’ when I see them that way at all. ETA: There don’t seem to be any -ES plurals as well as no -S plurals. Anyhow, aside from all that, for me this was a straightforward 4 that wasn’t going to be a 3 or a 5. I agree that adding an R to a four-letter adjective is akin to adding an S to a four-letter noun, and I was resisting it. So much so that I resorted to a test word at five. I realized afterward that that word wouldn’t really have helped me if the answer _wasn’t_ RUDER, but I was frustrated by that point. I wasn’t too sure about QUEER either, but I think in the UK it’s more commonly used to simply mean β€œunusual” so I went for it. Would have been a better answer if you ask me. Oh well, I got it, even if it did take six. Onward. ---

Well, this sucked.
