Scordle agreed with my choice of LIBEL. Narrowed it down to one, so you can’t beat that!  
(But if the solution had been LIBEL, I’d have had a pretty symmetrical pattern too. Oh well.)

I got a 3 today, but there was a lot of luck involved.

Wordle 886 3/6\*

IRATE

The consonant letters I like to fix or eliminate first after my opening word are S, N, P, C and L. I couldn’t come up with one that used a C, and since I’d already eliminated S and N with SINEW, I thought the X was a throwaway letter to learn about the P and L. Turned out to be the answer – out of 26 possibles. Definitely luck. WordleBot seemed dubious.
