I figured this one would be trouble for anyone playing in hard mode. Scordle, starting with SLATE, took six tries.

My opener eliminated some good letters, and my sleuth word worked out well. Happy with the par here.

After DUMPY, MIXER and EMBER were the only non-bullshit words left. I saw MIXER so went with it after poking around and not seeing anything else. Only saw EMBER when the M could only be the second letter.

I won’t say I struggled with this one, it was more that no approach, no system, is going to succeed in getting a 4 or less every time; there will always be some words that slip through its cracks. And I was still down to just two possibilities after my third guess, so a 50-50 shot at the 4, and no danger of a 6. For an off day, not too bad really.
