I wasn’t sure if pulling out the Q at two was a smart move, but I wanted all the vowels in play. It worked out, as Scordle told me there was nothing else left but garbage words. So this one made me feel smart. 🤓

I shot an eagle on hole 988 today!

**STERN** — _a good start leaves possible answers as **stake state stave stoke stove strep** ; other possibles but already used are stage stale stole style_  
**STATE** — a good guess!

Back on 28 Dec 2023 I shot my last eagle, on hole 922.

I should never play before settling down with a cup of coffee and drinking half of it. I _forgot_ to check the used words list. If I had, I’d have known that PLATE was already used and would have made SKATE my second try. So it goes.
