Stupid, stupid mistake at four. I correctly surmised there were two Eβs, then put one in an invalid spot. π€¦πΌββοΈ
The valid choices were CHEER, DRYER, and FRYER, so a par was definitely a possibility had I been paying attention. And these days, a par is grounds to celebrate. I suck at this game lately.

I think it has been legitimately harder lately, and for a while now.
When I posted my scores from the last hundred games, I was all big talk about how the previous answers list was clearly bringing the scores way down. But now this current hundred answers, Iβm getting crushed. I expect the next time I post my score breakdown, this hundred answers will be significantly worse than last time.

I agree. And for me, at least, there was a clear point that kicked off the more challenging period - Wordle 953, EMBER.
In the hundred games immediately preceding EMBER, I used 320 guesses, for an average of 3.20 per game. In the six weeks from EMBER through today, Iβve used 150 guesses in those 42 games, for an average of 3.57 per game. Iβve had six 5s in the past six weeks; Iβd had only three of those in the previous hundred. I thought I was pretty hot shit at this game six weeks ago; this period has definitely taken me down a peg.
