I wanted to try the other three, but couldn’t find a word that did that along with another vowel. Fortunately, there were a couple that did so while repeating the E, and before I saw TENSE, I saw > T **E** _E_ **N** S β†’ So I had a repeating E. And an N in 4th. The second E pretty much had to go at the end. I played around with some words until I came to the Ps, and saw a double double > **PENNE** > > Not sure it really qualifies as a common English word, but I’ll take it - I’m not about to look a gift birdie in the mouth. Scoredle takes 4, but I’m surprised it picks DENSE over TENSE for its second guess. ---

I’m not a fan of Penne being an answer…it’s the _plural_ form of the Italian word Penna. Sure, it’s common enough of a word, but still. πŸ™„ ---

Tried L & U, and two more consonants for > _LA_UG_H_ β†’ Since SH and TH are out, I figured I’d try CH, then A fit well in the middle slot, if the N hadn’t been eliminated I woud have tried CHAIN but as it is: > **CHALK** > Scoredle is less lucky than I, missing the (eventual) second letter with its third guess and taking a bogey. I might have been lucky with my second guess, as it turned out, because I would have had a tough time spotting the solution with my fourth guess had I not gone on to try my third guess. With that green vowel at 2 and wanting to check the last WoF consonant you would have had a decent chance to guess the answer, but no more likely than black, clack, flack, flail, flaky, quail, qualm or probably any number of other options. Unless those have already been answers, of course. (Checking now, three of those seven have been used before.) ---
