My rule is trust the B unless there’s a G in which case go G first. And F before either of them. But with this I didn’t get that far. I saw brown and crown immediately and just trusted the B since crown has already been an answer. It was then that I knew I fucked up, greatly underestimating this trap. At that point I said screw it, I’ll just go alphabetical order. Should have gone F at 3 but definitely by 4. Ah well. ---

Surprisingly, none of the four had been used. (I overlooked GROIN, but also surprisingly, it _had_ been used - pre-NYT, of course.) So I went with a sleuth word on 3 rather than take a chance at having a second 6 in less than a week, and it did the job. ---

OK, ?RO?N is trappish, I can see FROWN, GROIN, CROON… I’ll shoot from the hip and try the first word I saw > **FROWN** > > A rather lucky pick. In the same place, Scoredle recommends GROWN, which would also help with GROIN and GROWN, so I can see why that word. There were seven kosher words left after two; if it was one of the other ?ROWN words, I (and Scoredle) might have ended up going the distance. ---
