After #1 I compiled a list of 19 fitting words (mainly to see what patterns were likely)  
of which 14 were already-used. A “sleuth word” was probably best, but I found that  
Douse (or Noose) offered a possible Two and a guaranteed Three _provided_ that  
(a) the secret was not Copse, a word I mentioned earlier as possibly too uncommon  
for Editor to choose, and  
(b) the secret word _was_ one of the five not-yet-used words I had found after #1.  
Alas, I had overlooked Guise and felt lucky to score Par.
