Scoredle finishes its puzzle by sinking the same 50-50 putt for par that I made for bogey. I think today’s a toughie. ---

Scordle suggests I should have gone right to the terminal Y at that point, but it probably wouldn’t have improved my score in the end. Tough word. ---

DRYAD would have been my usual go-to except that yellow D eliminated it, and I wasn’t thinking of anything that would work. Betcha Scoredle gets a two on this. So then I thought about Britishisms that might be valid words and resolved to try > T **Y** _R_E_D_ β†’ Which was _very_ useful, for a while I thought about RYD?? words (and came up with bupkis) but when I thought about ?YRD? it came to me immediately > **HYDRA** > SYNOD, YODEL and HYDRO were the second-guess valid words I should have seen, along with the eventual answer. Finding one of them out of the 103 total possibles Scoredle shows would be difficult - about half of that total were odd-but-regular-past-tense words, including my eventual guess. Scoredle also makes a bogus second guess that leaves a birdie tap-in; there were two other possibles on my third guess, so I was a little luckier. ---
