I flipped a coin between WINCE and MINCE; doubling up on the E never even occurred to me. But, even if I’d found all possible words, MINCE or WINCE would have been the right play, to eliminate each other as well as NIECE. So we’ll pretend I played this brilliantly.

I want to think I didn’t play this one poorly, despite the bogey. PANEL, given the little information I had, wasn’t a bad guess, and EAGLE did its job of placing the E, though it dropped me into a bit of a mini-trap.  
I saw CABLE, SABLE, and LADLE. The one I missed was FABLE, which, had it been the solution, I would have gotten to in six.  
No danger of a fail, but I didn’t have much luck today.
