“And that person (who I’ve just told this sad/maudlin/shocking story about)… was me.” Not a word or phrase but just a scene: talking to the gravestone as if it were a person buried there, often to apologize or ask a first spouse’s permission to move on. These people have an absolutely terrifying belief about the afterlife- that when you’re dead you’re connected indefinitely to your rotting corpse. All in all I’d prefer just standing around the rivers of Hades. ---

“Look.” This is used in movies but I would say it’s used more in sitcoms to nudge the plot back on track after a joke some wacky hijinks. I totally notice it whenever its used as well. For instance: Stephanie: Any luck yet? DJ: No, no one’s asked. Uncle Joey: Garsh, what are you going to do, duh huh? [canned laughter] DJ: Look, if none of the boys asks me to the dance, I’m going to be the laughing stock of the 8th grade. ---
