I think G’day is pretty much the shorthand label word for Australian speech (Strine/stryne/strayan is, as I understand it, the slang _name_ for said speech).

The main difference with the “s” as done in the SNL skit for “Da Bears” is that it is _unvoiced_. Normally “Bears” is pronounced with a “z” sound at the end. In the skit, it’s pronounced with an “s”. That said, spelling it with extra esses may be a reasonable way to get this across.

I went to a large university in south-central Indiana, and at one time worked at a fast food restaurant in town. There was a very localized accent near there that pronounced “burgers” as “boogies.” I had a hard time keeping a straight face the first time I took an order for a “hamboogie” or a “cheeseboogie.” I also heard more statements like, “Your car needs fixing,” or “My clothes need cleaning.”

That at least sounds like standard register English.

Did you mean " … statements like, “Your car needs fixed,” or “My clothes need cleaned (or needs washed).”? That’s a sorta common Indiana / Ohio / Pennsylvania idiom that really grates on most non-local ears.

Yes, that’s what I was referring to. My wife is a linguist, and noticed that when she started grad school in the aforementioned university.

That usage (I consider it an Ohio Valleyism) needs put out of our misery and buried permanently, alive or dead.

“I’m fixin’ to do…” whatever.

“Y’all come” meaning come visit soon.

“Over younder” meaning it’s that way.

“Down there, a piece”. meaning a short distance.

“Go around liars house”. meaning trying to find out the truth.

I think you pretty much covered it; take the rest of the day off. 😄

My wife is the Yinzer and if you don’t hear from me ever again, it’s because I called her that when I wasn’t thinking and she blew her cork and I was dealt with.

[This is Picklesburgh](https://youtu.be/NOxPr6oRasc?si=39_YL5nUEms2IFUC) We went the first year and had the pickle fried chicken, pickle ice cream, and a pickle cupcake.
