I have use Thru as often as Through. When someone challenges me on it, I explain that is the spelling in the phonetic dictionary and as long as it conveys the meaning, it does no harm. Then they usually pummel me.

“Often,” a word that 20 years ago was supposed to be pronounced “offen” but recently has been accepted as “often.”
I say, why not just make it official? Why have the “t” in there at all?
