Such things are called “sight rhymes” or “eye rhymes.” My favorite is laughter/slaughter. ---

I’ve also only heard it as “baid.” [Dictionary.com](http://Dictionary.com) only has the “bad” pronunciation. Merriam-Webster has both, with “bad” as the first and “baid” as the second. Wiktionary has “baid” as the first, and “bad” as the second. I don’t think I’ve ever heard this word pronounced as anything but “baid” (not that I’ve heard it that often in speech.) ---

Strangely, I’ve only heard it pronounced correctly, same as “bad.”
