The spicier the weather the more sweaters you need to wear. Another word I hate. Spicy. What the hell does that even mean? Does it mean there is paprika and cumin in the dish or that it will melt my tongue? I hate restaurants that on their menu say “Spicy Chicken Enchiladas” but then don’t explain what they mean. If I encounter that I will get up and leave and go to another restaurant that actually wants my business. ---

Gonna and wanna. Sure, “going to” and “want to” might sound that way in speech but please don’t write them that way in your resume. Still any words are better than just posting a picture (meme?) or a hyperlink to save the poster having to use any words at all. ---

Words that irk me: Use of “lighted”, instead of “lit”. “Lighted” just grates on my ears. Use of “soda”, instead of “pop”. Soda is used to make cakes rise; it’s not something to drink. Use of “drone”, instead of “quadcopter”. I had a confused conversation with a friend about a “drone big enough to carry a person”. I was baffled why anyone would want to ride a vehicle while someone on the ground was flying it. Seems insanely dangerous. I finally realized they meant a “quadcopter big enough to carry its pilot”, not a not remotely piloted vehicle with a passenger. Use of “recycled water”, instead “non-potable water”. All water in the public water supply is recycled. Use of “politics”, instead of “partisanship”. Politics are the mechanisms of governance. Partisanship is the conflict among opposing groups. ---
