Oddly, there is this calypso song streaming through my brain pan…
Dey back to back and belly to belly,
Dey don’t give a damn, dey done dead already…
Weird.

Yeah, putting a 10 point letter on a triple letter/triple word score is a killer. Sometimes it’s too easy to do.
I also don’t like that Bingos are only 25 points. I like the 50 point bonus from Scrabble.
And I really want my app to start working again! GRRR! It’s been two days!
I’ve noticed that too. Words With Friends strikes me as much more of a game about board control/placement than it is about vocabulary–nothing wrong with that, but if you’re expecting a serious Scrabble game then you’ll be somewhat disappointed.
I get it now. Completely missed it first time.
What happens when dyslexics play Scrabble?
I’m not a lawyer and I’m not speaking from experience, only a casual interest as a gamer.
You can’t a game’s rules*, so designers are left with trademark and copyright for protection. (You can patent mechanisms used by the game, such as the Trouble popper, but not the rules. Things like turning a card sideways to indicate it is tapped in Magic: the Gathering are a little more of a grey area, but it’s been filed.) Furthermore, Scrabble was created in 1948, so any patents have long since expired.
If you sufficiently file off the trademark and copyrighted material, you can make a decent copy**. Don’t call it Scrabble. Modify the board layout. Change the tile counts and values. Remove and replace any original art. Now, you have a different game.
*Technically, you might be able to patent the rules, but it’s less likely to stand up when challenged.
**Being allowed to make a copy doesn’t mean you won’t have the pants sued off of you by Hasbro or other companies with deep pockets.
I also had serious crashing issues with WWF- and it takes fucking forever to reboot- so I switched to…
Invite sent. I’m dutchboy208 on Wordfeud if anyone wants to [del]beat[/del] play me.
Yeah Zynga’s a crappy company that makes crappy games. And they’ve got an IPO soon that’s going to make them billions. Huzzah!
Don’t remind me. It took me two years to break my Mafia Wars addiction (clean and sober for 2 months now!)
A new version of Wordox/Wordsteal can be found here : http://fundox.free.fr. It’s completely free and without ads.
