# Work frustrations: And you've waited 'til now to do this why?

Boss: We are behind on ten of the twelve documents that were due last week! How can you be so careless!

Team: But, Boss, they’re all waiting for you to review them. You said we weren’t allowed to send anything to Documentation without your approval.

Boss: WHAT? And why haven’t you said it before!

Team: Each of us has said it in the end-of-day “what I’ve done today” (by Joe Consultant, 8 years experience) emails and in our first-thing-in-the-morning “what I expect to do today” (by Joe Consultant, 8 years experience) ones. We’ve also reported it in our daily verbal reports and in every team meeting.

Boss: And how am I supposed to have time for all this? I don’t have time for all this!

Team shuts up and thinks: let’s see, learn to manage, learn to delegate, learn to trust your subordinates… yanow, learn to do your job and to let us do ours! The two documents that have been handed in are the ones we handed in without your explicit approval after you hadn’t responded to review requests for two weeks, prompting you to threaten with firing the people involved if any of us ever sent something without said explicit approval… oh, and by the way see signature.
