I am interested in working in the UK for a few years. I would prefer to work for an American company in London and would like to know what is the best way to find out about any such opportunities. [Monster.com](http://Monster.com) and the like are not very helpful because the jobs listed are generally for UK nationals and would require a lot of paper work to obtain a work permit, reducing the probability of getting the position. Any advice?

Do you have any British relatives?

Even though my parents were both born in Australia, because my mother’s parents were British, I am entitled to far more lenient visa conditions than people who can’t claim British ancestry - including a much longer allowable working period in the UK. As far as I know, this doesn’t only apply to people from Commonwealth countries.
