I’m bored. They said they’d bring me along slowly at the new place, but there’s such a thing as too slowly. I even said something to the big boss about it, and I’m still being spoon-fed. I don’t want to be thrown in the deep end or anything, but for Pete’s sake give me something to do please! Zzzzzz… Still no idea what it is that’s weird about the big boss. I’ll keep you posted! ---

Downtown, in a fancypantsy highrise club usually populated with captains of industry. My team? None of us work 8-hour days anymore. I am tired, tired, TIRED of working late every motherfucking goddamn day, and now I have to sink at least two hours into eating a meal I don’t want with a bunch of people who don’t give two shits about me, and I have to work late MORE to make up for all the time I’m losing sitting and twiddling my thumbs listening to speeches while work piles up, piles up, piles up. ---

Thanks, **flatlined**. I stopped by the new boss’ office and asked if she’d be interested in taking me on. She was surprised I even asked-bitch boss had given her the impression employees were part of the package. New boss has high-level corporate experience and has been running her own business for several years so I think it’s going to be a better situation. Doesn’t make me any less pissed at old boss, though. ---

I’d still be pretty pissed too, but it sounds like it will be all right which I’m sure is a relief. Update: Boss came back yesterday, we’re both less than optimal right now but somehow we’re managing so it’s not so bad which is good. ---

I’m actually finding myself missing SG a little. One of the things I could depend on SG to do is to have the latest gossip. Its possible that SG’s habit of talking about other people’s sex lives while entertaining the HR people backfired. SG doesn’t actually say anything about people having sex, except to mention that so and so are living together…not that there is anything wrong with that. SG is on unpaid leave this week. I don’t know what happened. I do know that I would know everything about the alley motor assisted bicycle rider if SG was still here. SG would have been in the alley by the third pass. There is a man who looks to be in his early to late 40’s who has started riding his modified bicycle up and down the alley behind my office. He rides up and down and around the warehouse a couple of times and then goes away. A couple of hours later, he does it again. I know where he lives because he brought his little barky dog once. Barky dog barks at me when I walk past that house. I try not to judge, but I think that most people get past the “lets put a lawn mower engine on a bike and ride around” thing when they are around 8. ---

OK I’ll admit to not having read the entire post but here goes.I believe the OP’s /issue (I may well be wrong) was with the idea of forced gaiety for lack of a better term. It its all about taking away from real work time to participate in something employees may find a waste of their time or possibly even offensive. ---

I multi-quoted because it has been over a year since this happened. This is also kind of an anti-griping. This past July, 2011 I was fired from this job. It was one of the happiest days of my life. I never did get into the groove of that place. I even gave the HR lady a big hug as she escorted me out of the building. I also left behind a huge pile of work that I was in the middle of and a few customer orders that needed followup. I hope ex-coworker had a great time sorting it all out. 😛 I had been quietly looking for another job and had found a promising place through a friend. The day I was fired I came home and told my husband that I was unemployed again. He sighed and was prepared to panic about it (for no real good reason, we weren’t in any sort of financial bind) and as we were talking, I logged into my email and saw a job offer from current firm. More money, good benefits and I’m back into engineering/drafting/design when I belong. I’ve been here since August, and so far there is nothing to pit about. Sorry if this isn’t in the spirit of this thread, but I just wanted to share. I’ve been trying to catch up, but am only to page 82. I’ll probably have comments when I get back to the more recent timeline. 🙂 ---

And second, if you go into your user control panel, you can change the number of posts per page from 50 to 200. It doesn’t really shorten the amount of reading, but it \*feels \*shorter when it only says 15 pages instead of … whatever-it’s-up-to-now-for-you. 😉 ---
