Those hadn’t been gyn visits, they’d been lunch breaks with friends. Two of them had lasted so long she hadn’t bothered come back in the afternoon. And the bosses’ contracts listed the same hours as ours: as I said, they were in breach of contract and could actually get fired. ---

Except my perpetually-talking coworker isn’t a very nice person, and she’s right next door to me. As close as you can get without sharing the same office. And somehow she manages to make everything all about her. They’re both gum smackers/crackers (along with several other people in my department). I hate staff meetings. It’s like sitting in the middle of a field full of cattle. ---

Are all employment agencies looney or just the ones I’ve come across? I ranted the other day about Agency #1 not contacting me about a job because they didn’t think I would want to work in that (very nearby) town. Today I get an email from Agency #1 saying they have something for me. Yay! I continue to read the email, it’s overnight shift. Um… where in my file does it say I’ll work nights? 😕 Never mind that it was also minimum wage, which is nowhere near the salary range I said I’d take. Agency #2 also emailed me today with a whole list of jobs I could choose from. Job 1, truck driver… Job 2, truck driver… Job 3, truck driver. You can see where this is going. I wonder what I told them that makes them think I want to drive a damn truck? :mad: Sigh. Quit wasting my time, people. ---

I didn’t know you had such a huge office at the Kwik-e-mart! Seems most offices like ours aren’t meant for productive work, just a place for socialization and gossip, Bleah! ---

No longer a problem at work (I have a job where I’m rarely in my office – YAY!) But my mom does that “constant vocalization”, and I wish I could tune it out. I’ve driven a lot of people who don’t do it in normal life, but somehow have to read signs (esp when they’re a passenger, it seems): “Oh, Fred’s Mortuary… Five Mile Road, I wonder what we’re five mi… Hey, a Two for One Sale, huh… Left turn only… Oh, Northfield Mall, I wonder if there’s a Southfiel… Shadow Valley Condo… if you lived here you’d be home by…” JUST SHUT UP! Driving my mom, sometimes I ask “What did you say?” “What?” “You said something about Shadow Valley.” “Did I?” “Oh, weren’t you talking to me?” Then she realizes she’s been talking to… well, not herself (she doesn’t do it when she’s alone), but the Universe… for half an hour. ---

Not in the office… but there’s a colleague who lives relatively near me (on my way to work), and who **hates** to drive, and really really wanted to carpool. She’s a lovely, lovely person. We even get together outside of work sometimes. But she chats constantly… and has a kind of aphasia (due to some medical issues)… so it’s very very hard to follow sometimes. Most days this is cool. But there are days where I’m in a bad mood / not feeling well, and I just really really want to have some quiet on the drive. And it does… not… happen… ---

My work is great about letting people work from home if they need to do so. I love that. But their servers are so fucking unreliable. I checked my connection - it’s really, really good. But my work laptop keeps booting me off the network. I’ve spent more time booting up today than I have on meetings or work combined. (Then again, I’m home with my daughter, so didn’t expect to get a whole lot done anyway.) ---

Good news! I got the job! After the 4 week training period, it’s on an as-needed/call-in basis, so we will have to see how it goes. I just REALLY don’t want to go back into straight retail at this point in my life. I want my nights and weekends all to myself. ---
