Works of art you really like that are not at all typical of what the artist is best known for

I’m not allowed to see the first link, but I agree on the second one. You really see his personality in it, it’s like a bridge between his colourful early work and the really abstract geometric stuff.

I don’t much care for the “yes but he could paint realistically if he wanted to” validation of Modern, so the reason I like this Paul Klee is because it’s a picture of two men who are each trying to bow lower than the other because they’re naked and can’t tell who is richer; not because it’s more conventional than the iconic Paul Klee.

There could only be one Honoré Daumier, there still should be as many artists as possible working the same themes.

I have always admired the work of Klimt.
