> As a matter of fact, **Quasi** , if you don’t mind starting over playing Horde, there’s a Straight Dope guild on the Cairne server called “The Burning Dog Legion”. If you wanted to switch and go over there, you’d have plenty of people who actually DO know what you’re suffering from and will have a lot of compassion and understanding for you. And most of them KNOW you already from here.
>
> Of course, that would mean you’d only be able to visit Heather occasionally, but you can always “recreate” Wolkie over on Cairne for occasional visits…you can have Horde AND Alliance toons on the same server as long as it’s not a PvP server.

Another alternative if you don’t mind sticking it out and waiting awhile–faction changes are coming. You could move Wolkie over to Cairne and switch his faction to Horde (as a Warrior he’s got a lot of options: you could be Undead, Tauren, Troll, or Orc–pretty much anything but Blood Elf, since they don’t have Warriors) and then be free to join the Burning Dog Legion without having to start over.

The only catches are that nobody knows when faction changes are coming, and you’ll have to pay for both a realm transfer and a faction change. But it might be just the ticket. And some of those Blood Elf ladies are pretty hot–they might even make you forget all about Heather. 🙂

Bruce Campbell must play King Varian Wynn. First, of course, they both share a chin.

See, there’s the thing: because I _have_ a life, this is going to take a very long time to accomplish (as in, I honestly don’t expect to be there before the end of the year). I’m lucky if I get 3 hours per _week_ of play time these days. But, since I don’t raid, don’t like running instances, and generally don’t like grouping with other players (other than my RL friends), this is the goal I have set for myself for those times when I do find the time to play 🙂

My guild is lucky enough to have a couple of Engineers who are always happy to bring along repair bots.

> Zandalar: Never ran much ZG back in the day, so was barely into honored. However, I can solo the trash, and after one run, I’m almost revered (including bijou / coin turn-ins). Only problem with this one is getting someone to join me for the raid.

Assuming you’ve got at least one alt in the same faction on your server, this is actually easy to get around. You just need a friend to borrow for about 10 seconds.

1.) Invite your friend to a group and turn it into a raid.
2.) Log off. (Because it’s a raid and not a regular group, your character will stay in the raid until manually removed from it or the raid is disbanded.)
3.) Log on to your alt.
4.) Have your friend invite your alt to the raid.
5.) Log off.
6.) Log back into your main. The members of the raid will now me you, your friend, and your offline alt. Your friend can now drop from the raid.

> [@lizardling](#):
>
> SFG, the comments on Wowhead were mostly oriented toward warrior tanks who could reflect the spells or interrupt them back, so since your main is a warrior it sounds like you would have been interrupting them anyway with no problem. 🙂 (I’m pretty sure I’m getting the exact skill names wrong, as I’m not familiar with warrior tactics so forgive me)

Spell Reflect is, uh, the way we reflect spells, and Defensive stance uses Shield Bash as an interrupt, but interrupt is the name for the mechanic. So you’re all good. 😃

> I returned a pot to the Booty Bay cook, and ran into something I could open called “The Guild Vault”. Is this MY guild vault, and can I draw from it what I might need? (it looks like mostly junk drops and glyphs).

A Guild Bank is a bank that is shared by all members of your guild. Different ranks in the guild will have different permissions (with regard to who can deposit into various tabs, withdraw from various tabs, and withdraw money).

> [@](#):
>
> Also, think I hit a wrong “repair” button and drew some money out of my guild repair bank. I would like to put this money back, since I didn’t need to do that.

If they didn’t want you using the guild bank money to repair, they’d disable that function. That’s what it’s there for! And at your level, the repair bill was probably so small as to be a teeny-tiny drop in the bucket.

> [@](#):
>
> Last question: Would a throwing knife help us soloing, or should I just stick to my two-handed Claymore sword for now?

Absolutely yes! A throwing knife is a ranged weapon, so you use it with your melee weapon, not instead of it. (You can wear the sword and the knife at the same time.) The throwing knife would be used for pulling mobs from a distance, and then you’d attack them with the sword once they got close enough. This means that you can stand in a safe spot and make the enemies come to you, instead of having to run up and hit them and maybe end up in the middle of a bigger group than you can handle.

> [@Quasimodem](#):
>
> And what I see over Wolkie’s head is “6 minutes until release”, and the words ‘Release Spirit’. I don’t see ANYTHING that just says “Release”, and I am NOT in an instance, so what happens if I just continue to lie there?

Whoops, that was my fault–“Release Spirit” is what I meant by “Release.” I couldn’t remember the actual wording. If you just keep lying there, after the 6 minute timer runs down, the game will automatically release your spirit (i.e., it will do the same thing as if you’d clicked the button).

> [@Mister\_Rik](#):
>
> If I’m reading everything correctly, I have to be in a Raid to do this quest?

When a quest is marked (Raid) or (Group), that’s a suggestion about how many people you should bring with you, not a requirement. (Raid) quests are also special in that they can be completed while in a raid–most quests can’t be. The only thing you \*\*need \*\*to be in a raid for is to enter a raid instance.

> [@Mister\_Rik](#):
>
> Good god, there’s no reason the two quests couldn’t have been handed out at the same time!

This is one of my favorite-hate-things in WoW. See also: quest givers who require you to take the same long, pain-in-the-ass journey for two sequential quest steps.

> [@Quasimodem](#):
>
> They’re _kids_ and don’t know how to _relate_ to someone like me.

This is what a lot of random guilds are going to be like, unfortunately. The kind of guild that invites random people… ends up with a bunch of random people, often a bunch of teenagers.

The command to leave a guild is **/gquit**.

If you’d like to find another guild on your server, I would advise advertising in Trade chat, on the official WoW forum for your server, or in the Looking for Guild channel. (The LFG channel is one you can set to automatically join any time you are not in a guild. Check your Interface settings–I think it is enabled by default.) Specify that you’re looking for an adult guild. If you’re posting on the forum instead of putting out a quick blurb in an in-game channel, you might want to mention, to whatever degree of detail you feel comfortable, the challenges your Alzheimer’s presents.

> [@Mister\_Rik](#):
>
> Of course, the last time I tried going in there I got that furshlugginer “Additional instances cannot be launched” crap that I’ve been getting all the time lately

While they could definitely stand to implement some kind of queueing system instead of just making you jump through the portal umpteen-billion times, the existence of instance throttling is a good thing. It means that once you do get in, you can be sure that you won’t die to lag.

> [@Bosstone](#):

I’d recommend against this. Wolkie is only, what, in his late 20s? IMO, $50 ($25 for server transfer plus what will probably be at least $25 for a faction change) is way too much to spend to move a character that you could easily reroll.

I got a good chuckle last night at some guild-recruitment spam on Cairne: The guild name was “Allys P P When They C ME”, and the spam emphasized that they’re an “adult guild” :dubious: (Also, these “adults” can’t spell “Allies” correctly.)

That one didn’t bug me so much when I was doing them, mainly because I usually had something else to do along the way at the south end of the zone (playing with Worgen, or ogres, or whatever). Probably the half-hour cooldown on the hearthstone helped: I would run south, do whatever was on my ticket and looked do-able at the time, go northwest to raven hill and work on whatever was next THERE, then zap back to darkshire and repeat.

Yeah, WTF? Where did all these childish guild names come from (or were they always there and I’m just now noticing them)? “Horde Escort Service”, “Dirty Little Hordes”, the aforementioned “P P”, etc… I’m pretty surprised those aren’t forbidden by the TOS… I mean kids play this game, right? Hell, who am I kidding - kids probably made up those names in the first place.

Mine too, but once somebody is insane enough to buy the mammoth, it’s free to use it. The cost to the person repairing is the same either way, and the engineer doesn’t have to farm the mats for the bot. Since three of our guild officers have mammoths, it’s never an issue that somebody has one out. (Me, I’m too cheap to buy one…)

Yes, you could be right. But sometimes folks get particularly attached to their characters and don’t want to re-roll, or else don’t want to repeat the drudgery of leveling (especially since \*\*Quasi \*\*doesn’t seem to be into power-leveling). It’s all about what you value. Me, I’d rather spend money to avoid unnecessary or boring effort, but I realize that everyone has different opinions and priorities. Perhaps what they meant was adult \*\*content \*\*(i.e., guild chat would not be kid-safe). Quasi, perhaps it would be better to say that you’re looking for a guild made up of adults instead of an adult guild. 😛 Or “mature guild” might work.

I haven’t seen anything about this particular aspect, but I have to wonder what the new mount rules are going to do to Druid travel form? What’s the use of it, other than “Oh, cool!”, if you can ride a mount that goes just as fast as travel form before you ever get travel form?
