Thanks for the 10-man advice. The next evening I have time to play (probably Friday) I’ll see if I can get into a Ony/VoA/ToC run.

I’ve been saving up Triumph emblems through the dailies, but since you can only do that once a day and I only play 3-4 times a week, it takes a while to stack them up. I’ve got about 35 so far… saving for the shoulders since the are my only non-epic gear right now.

Still haven’t gotten those damn bracers - spent my conq emblems on a chest piece and some gloves instead.

Woo! We had to change up our roster some last night for different reasons so we ended up with BM, SV, and MM hunters. 😃

Blew through spider and construct quarters, picking up **Make Quick Werk of Him** on the way. Then the SV hunter had to go, so we pugged a lock and went to say hi to Gluth. Even with Earthbind and a DK or ret pally helping us hunters with kiting, Gluth took us a few attempts to down. My heart was thumping pretty hard on the last 5%, I’ll say that.

We went to take a look at Thaddius, and ended up two-shotting him. 😃 It helped that we stacked up on the tank so there’s less distance to run, plus we had the switches broken down from “Clockwise” to “neg wall, pos door side”. I think we lost a couplethree people to the polarity shifts, plus the offspec resto shaman couldn’t make the jump (but her heals could and did for the people on that side!).

I think next week we’ll try for **Arachniophobia** and **Shocking**! provided the people who didn’t come this week can step up.

\*\*SFG \*\*-- I had DXE loaded, but couldn’t seem to get the Naxx module to load, so I went back to DBM. I’ll take a poke and see if I can’t get DXE working next week because I’d really love to see it in action.

**lizardling** , sorry DXE pooped out on you in Naxx. I haven’t tried it at all there. Once you enable it, it should just load itself… Did you make sure it was turned on?

I think I’ve only been in 1 group, a 10 man, that there wasn’t at least 1 person who failed at the jump. For the rotation I had picked up a handy macro off of a forum somewhere. And yet again, some people just plain miss it.

> To my shame, I utterly **failed** this on our Thaddius fight last week. I was the secondary tank, and just could not do it. I always fail badly on these jumps, whether it’s the one on the way into LBRS/UBRS or this. At least on my priest I could hit Levitate and float over, but I was stuck as my druid. I finally just sat down in the ooze until I died, then flew back to Naxx to rejoin the group. (It was faster than running back through the quarter.)

I feel your pain. More often than not, I missed the jump. I started bring speed potions so I could jump further.

Is DXE some sort of boss mods? I’m sort of a diehard bigwigs user.

My guild is heretical; we are counter-clockwise runners around Thaddius. During the quick voice explanation over Ventrilo, we typically have one guild member stand in the middle of the walkway before the ramps, with one person on the left and one on the right (each facing the guy in the middle). When named, the Thaddius stand-in will jump up and down to alert people to who he’s pretending to be, and the positive-area guildie and negative-area guildie will do likewise. They then demonstrate what counterclockwise is. 😃 We tend to do this out of habit even when we’re all old hands at it.

As for missing the jump, I apologized, and it was pretty much noted that we tend to kill Thaddius with 9 people regardless. Either someone can’t make the jump, or someone dies due to charge confusion.

I almost always have assist or lead, so I’ll do a:

/rw Negative \<--------- Boss ---------\> Positive

'Course I’ve never used a four-point pattern (with the running to the side), since running straight through is fine if you don’t have lag.

DXE is [Deus Vox Encounters](http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/deus-vox-encounters.aspx), a bossmod. I was in exactly your shoes–I’d been using Bigwigs since I first started raiding Kara back in TBC, and I’d grown very attached to it. But people in my current guild were raving about DXE (especially since the timers were more accurate for TotGC, which is what we’re doing right now), so I gave it a shot and I’m loving it.

Heh. I finally got an in-game comment on my [severely under-geared, never-done-a-raid-or-heroic lvl 80 human pally](http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Lightbringer&n=Eilyssana) the other day. I was running to Goldshire to try to put out the fires one last time, and somebody whispered at me, “New lvl 80?” So I replied, “No, I’ve been 80 for a while now. I’ve just never done any raiding/heroics with this toon.” (I went on a bit about how my weird, unpredictable work schedule makes raiding and such kind of difficult). They answered back with, “Ah, okay. I just wondered because I’ve never seen a lvl 80 pally with such low HP.” (Eilyssana has a measly 17,094 HP, unbuffed.)

She _does_ have the best gear I’ve been able to afford from the AH, and she has the Oracle rep shoulders. And since I’ve recently started grinding Sons of Hodir rep, I’ve put the “Lesser Inscription of the Axe” on those shoulders (+30 AP and +10 CS). But I’m _still_ wearing the doggone Savage Saronite chest and legs. There just doesn’t seem to be _anything_ else out there for DPS plate without doing heroics or raids. I’ve seen a number of nice lvl 80 purple chest pieces on the AH, but every one of them is tank or healer armor. I’m about to give up and just respec Prot. While really could care less about raiding, this is one reason why I normally switch out of my armor and into my [“Town” gear (shirt & pants)](http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=4337002&l=e1971c9bd3&id=661212628) when I’m running around Dalaran. Dressed like that, my low HP don’t look so odd.

OTOH, I’ve now “earned” a total of **two** Wintergrasp Marks of Honor by virtue of happening to be flying over WG just as the Alliance is winning the battle. Maybe if I do that enough times I’ll have enough Marks of Honor to trade for some decent armor. Though I suppose it will still be PvP gear like my Savage Saronite stuff 😃

But speaking of Hodir rep, I’ve very curious about the two different mammoths offered, the “Reins of the Ice Mammoth” (900g, requires Revered) and the “Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth” (9000g, requires Exalted). What, exactly, is the difference? The descriptions are exactly the same. Is the 9000g version the big one like the Tundra Mammoth that Mei Francis sells, just without the vendors and multi-passenger capability?
Now let me talk about Random Number Generators. I think Blizzard subcontracted the programming of these things out to Don Vito’s 100% Legitimate Computer Programming and Casino Supply (motto: “We’ll build you an app you simply cannot refuse! And free drinks while you’re computing!”). That’s the only way I can explain my Trick or Treating results. Let’s see, the ToT “Treat Bag” could contain any one of 20 different masks, 7 different wands, 3 (I think) different buff candies, the Hallowed Helm, or the Sinister Squashling. Oh yes, and the Penny Pouch. 33 _possible_ results. Yet I somehow “randomly” rolled the Penny Pouch _far_ out of proportion to anything else. I should have kept them all so I could count them up, instead of trashing them immediately, but that would have meant running out of bag space on some of my toons. I’m guessing I received that particular “treat” more than fifty times. At one point, my belf pally received a Penny Pouch on _four consecutive ToTs_. Harrumph. Despite there being 20 possible masks, I’d say I received fewer than 30 total, spread out over all of my 23 toons that ToT’d.

Meanwhile, there’s the Cooking and Fishing dailies in Dalaran. These are a little more likely to generate “repeats”, what with there being fewer options. But still … I recently had a string of eight consecutive days of Cheese For Glowergold, then one day of something else, then three more straight days of Cheese For Glowergold. Today is the third consecutive day of Sewer Stew, and the second day in a row of Jewel Of The Sewers (though I admit I actually like this combination - I can make the stew, deliver it to the innkeeper in the sewer, and then the fishing spot is right there). But still, I’m seeing that Terrorfish daily maybe once a month, if I’m lucky. Heck, back when I started doing the Shattrath fishing dailies, I did them every day for nearly a month before I got the fifth and final one I needed for the did-them-all achievement. Then I got that same one for the next four or five days in a row.

Oh, and while I’m pointlessly pissing and moaning, let me whine about the fact that Cooking Supplies vendors don’t sell Ice Cold Milk. So doing the Day of the Dead quest requires not just traveling to your race’s capitol (and naturally, almost every one of my toons was parked on the opposite continent to begin with), but tracking down the Cooking Supplies vendor to buy flour, then running (usually) to the other end of town to buy milk from an innkeeper. I mean, come on, this would maybe make sense if Bread of the Dead was the only recipe that needed Ice Cold Milk. But it’s not. At least one “everyday” recipe calls for it (Clam Chowder). And the graveyards. Good lord, that was an exercise in exploration. Ironforge/Thunder Bluff/Silvermoon … going into Day of the Dead I had no idea where those graveyards were. The lack of consistency didn’t help, either; some capitols (like the three listed above, plus Darnassus) have their own graveyard, some share a graveyard with the nearest town (SW-\>Goldshire, Exodar-\>Azure Watch, etc.). The Silvermoon graveyard was bizarre. I’d run past it countless times with belf toons, but without Catrina and Clayton(?) standing there, there’s nothing about its appearance that says “graveyard”. It looks like an artsy rock garden or something.

Last night I rolled up a female belf warlock. I named her “Hexpot” 😛

Did you try searching for gear on Wowhead? I posted a tutorial on how to do it a while back.

It’s actually not unusual for DPS to start their sets with DPS gear. I mean, you wouldn’t want to go into ToC10/25 with it, but could be very helpful for starting out on Heroics and entry-level raids (Naxx, OS, early VoA). And hey, there’s nothing that says you can’t happily bounce around in WG or BGs even if you’re getting killed every two seconds.

Well, it’s \*\*not \*\*a cooking supply, per se. It’s a drink that happens to be used in a few cooking recipes, is all.

That certainly applies to why one would get fifty billion penny pouches and no pets, but it doesn’t do a lot to explain the \*\*extreme \*\*streakiness of the Cooking/Fishing dailies.

Indeed. Naturally I would expect the Hallowed Helm and Sinister Squashling to be “weighted” lower than the other items - they’re blues, after all. I just don’t see the reasoning behind the Penny Pouch being weighted so heavily, other than it being the one and only absolutely useless item on the list.

(I did end up with three helms and three pets, but not both on any one toon. My nelf priest, however, got two of those helms.)

Tell me about it. I used to warn people before a Kara/Naxx raid that because I was along, the appropriate set piece would not drop.

I finally bought the T7 robe for my warlock right before a Naxx raid. Of course, what dropped that very night? And guess who was the absolute sole raid member eligible for that item? Oh yes. I was not pleased. Warlocks don’t even get another version of the item for another spec, unlike many/most other classes. The token for it is still taking up bank space.

AFAIK, you only have multiple tier sets for hybrid classes. Pure DPS (Warlock, Rogue, Mage, Hunter) only have one set of tier gear because they only have one role. Hybrids have multiple sets because they can spec for multiple roles. IOW, the stats for an Affliction 'Lock and a Destro 'Lock will be a lot closer than those of a Ret Pally and a Holy Pally.

On Cairne it seems like it was HoL for about a week (but finally VH yesterday).

Wintergrasp is a must, because there are extra dailies in there that grant large amounts of honor points. Also, do the Call to Arms dailies for bonus honor. Just do 2 or 3 BGs a day and you’ll get gear that adds a lot of Stamina along with extra sockets.

Good Luck!
