> The most grief I think I’ve gotten was when my level sixty-something decided to drop a crafting profession that was too expensive to level and switch to mining. To skill up, of course, I had to go through all the low-level areas to find the ores I needed, and boy, the lowbies were pissed. Sorry, but I needed copper as much as they did, and I tried to be polite about it (I wouldn’t steal a vein if someone else had just worked to clear the mobs around it, for example). The anger was amazing. Dudes! We all have a right to the content in this game!

I was in the same situation when I dropped Enchanting and took up Mining at lvl 50. I actually didn’t encounter too many lowbies going for the same veins, but when I did I tried to be polite and let them have the node if they were clearly going for it before me. Also, if I found a lowbie mining in an area I’d often just head for a different area so that we weren’t in each other’s way.

Once I got up to Mithril and Thorium, though, the other miners were close to my level so it wasn’t such an issue. I had one incident in Un’Goro for which I got razzed by my guildmates. I (my female human pally, that is) was heading for a thorium node and just as I got within a few yards of it a female blood elf paladin of the same level arrived from a different direction. We both stopped short at precisely the same time, like we were both thinking the same thing: “Who was here first?”. I went ahead and took a step back to indicate, “Go ahead, you can have it.” When I mentioned it in guild chat somebody said, “Noooo! Don’t let the enemy have resources!” So I just explained I was hoping that by letting the belf have it maybe I could get some hot interfaction girl/girl paladin-on-paladin action 😃

The only time I actually “stole” a node was unintentional. I was in the Burning Steppes and spotted a thorium node on a small hill near a road. I heard the “clink” of a mining pick an instant before my own, followed by the sounds of combat from the other side of the hill. It was too late to stop my own mining action, and then a dwarf came popping up from the other side of the hill just as the node was fading out. Apparently the dwarf got jumped by a mob and interrupted just as he started mining, and due to his short stature I didn’t even see him behind the low hill.

A couple days ago I was farming iron in Arathi Highlands with my human DK. I was in the ogre cave in the SE corner and found a draenei fighting an ogre right next to two active nodes - 1 iron and 1 gold. So I stood back and waited to see what the draenei would do. She finished killing the ogre, turned and saw me waiting, figured out what I was waiting for, and said, “Go ahead, I’m not high enough yet.”

> The harassment is basically non-stop tells and group invites for those few players with rare combos (female troll and female dwarf in particular). I can see how it’d be annoying getting mobbed by 50 players just for setting foot in Dalaran. Similar to how famous people get annoyed with autograph seekers - it seems cool from a distance but sometimes you just want to fish in peace.

My main is a male blood elf mage who has a bit of a superiority complex (RP-wise). So he quite enjoyed the Love is in the Air achievement that required people to sprinkle rose petals over various race/class combinations (including BE mages). He spent half the holiday period under a cloud of rose petals 🙂

Arguably, the better thing to do would be to buy stacks of copper ore and smelt them to raise your Mining skill. It’s faster, it gets money into lowbie hands, and by letting them mine it they get to raise their Mining skill as well. It’s win-win. 60-80 copper ore costs anywhere from 8 to 24 gold; not all that much for a 60-something, but a fortune to a level 10. And then you can resell the bars to metalworkers to recoup some of your money.

Of course, if you don’t want to spend any money on a profession, especially gathering, then you certainly have as much right to mine copper and tin as anyone else.

> I’m happy with the Noblegarden event. It’s the first holiday with achievements that can be easily done by casual player. At least it’s the first one I’ve managed to complete. All the others required completing some instance many times until you got a lucky drop. Noblegarden does it a better–if you don’t get the drop, you can turn in some number of consolation prizes to get it.

No drops required for the Lunar Festival event (one end game dungeon, about half way in, and being present when someone killed an outdoor raid boss, but you didn’t need to be in the raid). The rest of the dungeon Elders were reachable solo, more so if you had stealth.

No dungeon or raid fighting required for Love is in the Air (required level 80, and at least one other person to form a raid with, and cold weather flying).

No raids for Winter Vale, only one level 71 dungeon, was easily three manned by 80s. Annoying, but we spent less than an hour getting people hats. The HKs were more annoying, but certainly were easily available to casuals.

Hallow’s End and Beerfest really do suck for the farming bosses point though. I killed both Direbrew and the Horseman more than 40 times, and saw one mount (which I already had :p). But they were certainly not restricted to hardcore players, and we brought anyone who could start the event to both of those. (It got silly with Direbrew, the druid with us was spelling his name with the bodies). As an aside, one of the recent changes may make it so we take fewer random people into the events: I can only carry 32 shards, and I can’t stock up.

I may have very different idea of what makes someone a casual than you do though. From my point of view, if you raid less than 10 hours a week (or clear every in game raid if it takes you less than that) you’re a casual. I don’t think that events that require five or fewer people are restricting content from anyone, and I understand why the events have requirements for the current expansion. I’m not overly pleased that they require max level to accomplish some of them, as the mount would be useful to anyone above level 77.

The name is “Shake Your Bunny-Maker”.

They want lvl 18 and up females only.

They’re putting bunny ears on the women.

Think Playboy “bunnies”, who have to be 18 or over.

Hee. My main is a female troll. The most amusing one so far is me in the ass-end of Un’Goro, trying to get the last gorilla pelt I need for a quest, and I get a tell out of the blue checking toon gender then dropping a group invite on me for locating purposes.

I knew we weren’t all that common, but that was certainly more effort than I expected. I know I’ve seen more pleas for gnomes/dwarves/orcs than I have for trolls.

My female troll has been pretty popular as well. On my way to an instance I got a /wait (so-and-so requests that you wait) emote from an Alliance, who then got the Noble Gardener title off finishing that achievement.

My husband got fooled - he saw a female dwarf in Dalaran and bunny-eared her… to no avail. It was a male dwarf wearing a full-face helm and a dress! The guy did a /laugh at him, then another friendly emote or two. My husband laughed, he got tricked pretty nicely.

When you go down that road from Sentinel Hill toward the Dagger Hills, turn right when it splits. Go down that way a little ways (maybe five to eight seconds). That should bring you past the Gnoll groups. You should be able to head in toward the Hills again and find a gentle slope up into them.

Whew! Had to take a break! All those big-breasted women were causing inflation in a certain secxtion of Quasi-Land!

Hey! I finally levelled to 17! (I haven’t felt like playing very much till tonight).

And I thought of a great song to play while we’re fighting.

It’s called Forty-Thousand Headmen, and I don’t know who did it first (Traffic, maybe?) but this version is by Blood Sweat and Tears.

You know?

Blood, Sweat and Tears?

From the 60’s?\

When some of y’all were still smoking your Pampers? 😉

Lyrics, if I may?

Forty thousand headmen couldn’t make me change my mind
If I had to take the choice between the deafman and the blind
I know just where my feet should go and that’s enough for me
I turned around and knocked them down and walked across the sea

Hadn’t traveled very far when suddenly I saw
Three small ships a-sailing out towards a distant shore
So lighting up a cigarette I followed in pursuit
And found a secret cave where they obviously stashed their loot

Filling up my pockets, even stuffed it up my nose
I must have weighed a hundred tons between my head and toes
I ventured forth before the dawn had time to change its mind
And soaring high above the clouds I found a golden shrine

Laying down my treasure before the iron gate
Quickly rang the bell hoping I hadn’t come too late
But someone came along and told me not to waste my time
And when I asked him who he was he said, ‘Just look behind’

So I turned around and forty thousand headmen bit the dirt
Firing twenty shotguns each and man, it really hurt
But luckily for me they had to stop and then reload
And by the time they’d done that I was heading down the road

Perfect music. It sounds like it belongs in WoW. Agree/Disagree?

Thanks

Bill

Glad to help!

You really want to watch how you pull them, **Quasi**. If there are two too close together, just skip that group. Only pull the ones that are far enough apart not to sympathy-aggro. It may take a little bit longer, because you may need to wait for the singletons to respawn, but it’s safer.

Gotcha my friend!

Thank you and this is for all my Warcraft Friends who have helped me so much here!

KING HENRY V:

"Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more;

Or close the wall up with our English dead.

In peace there’s nothing so becomes a man

As modest stillness and humility:

But when the blast of war blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger;

Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood,

Disguise fair nature with hard-favour’d rage;

Then lend the eye a terrible aspect;

Let pry through the portage of the head

Like the brass cannon; let the brow o’erwhelm it

As fearfully as doth a galled rock

O’erhang and jutty his confounded base,

Swill’d with the wild and wasteful ocean.

Now set the teeth and stretch the nostril wide,

Hold hard the breath and bend up every spirit

To his full height. On, on, you noblest English.

Whose blood is fet from fathers of war-proof!

Fathers that, like so many Alexanders,

Have in these parts from morn till even fought
And sheathed their swords for lack of argument:

Dishonour not your mothers; now attest

That those whom you call’d fathers did beget you.

Be copy now to men of grosser blood,

And teach them how to war. And you, good yeoman,

Whose limbs were made in England, show us here

The mettle of your pasture; let us swear
That you are worth your breeding; which I doubt not;

For there is none of you so mean and base,

That hath not noble lustre in your eyes.

I see you stand like greyhounds in the slips,

Straining upon the start. The game’s afoot:

Follow your spirit, and upon this charge

## Cry 'God for Harry, England, and Saint George!"

I’m obsessing. Right, y’all?😃

You know what? I don’t care! I’d much rather be OCD than AZD, and why shouldn’t I grab on to a little fun when it presents itself?

Thanks for all the help. Really.

**ALL** the help!

The whole reason I wanted to take up mining was to make money. Leveling by buying ore to smelt would have been counter-productive.

And I don’t know if they’ve changed it recently, but when I leveled up mining, you couldn’t even come _close_ to doing it by smelting. Smelting of one ore went gray long before you could smelt the next one.
