How is this even possible? They’re all over the place!

There are big camps of them all along the tops of the cliffs all the way around the shoreline. Just start near Elwynn and work your way around to Moonbrook and you’ll find plenty.

And I’ll repeat the advice I gave earlier: It’s harder to level if you confine yourself just to the human lands. Go to Stormwind, go into the dwarf district, and take the tram to Ironforge in the dwarf lands. Once there you can head south out of the city to Kharanos where you will find lots more low-level quests.

In the entire time I have been playing [between closed beta to now] I use the same proceedure …

Start off in your racial baby land, do that, then run screaming and naked to the next one [especially if you have to go through wetlands…] and do all the baby starting areas for your side of the fray. THen go back to your original and do the next zone up. Then you can opt to go around to all the other second zones, or get to about 20. It makes a great deal of help in getting your faction up. It is also great for doing skillups. If you make a bank alt, and send all the craft drops [meat, cloth and so forth] then you will have a bounty of tradeskill goodies to use to skill up with.

I always do fishing, cooking and first aid, and keep them as current as possible.

With the achievements, every little bit helps…

Probably the smartest thing they ever did was to reset the ship docks for Auberdine to Stormwind Harbor. Hell, the smartest thing they ever did _was_ Stormwind Harbor! It would have made my several-month-ago swim from Menethil to Westfall (thus avoiding Wetlands completely on my baby Nelf) a whole lot shorter if I could have cut through Stormwind to the flight point.

I can’t seem to find that. What addon is that? I love the idea.

I actually miss the old Wetlands run. It wasn’t THAT hard to do without dying. The hardest part was the orcs in the pass, and most of the time you could make it to the safety of the dwarf guards before they killed you. It made getting to Stormwind feel like a major victory! Now you just hop on the boat and pfft … .

I’ve got a bunch of addons and I don’t remember which that is. I’ll see if I can get some time at home this evening to pop on Warcraft and check, and I’ll let you know.

If you want to play around in the meantime, I’d bet it’s either Informant or UberQuest (or _maybe_ MobInfo). Those are really useful mods.

I’m one! Just started heroic WoTLK instances with her. Looking forward to dual spec so I can also be healer and thus never be without an instance.

Nah, my husband tanked HoL for a guild group last night. (Gotta run or I’d add more, but _bumpity_ at least.)

Oh, I do have Auctioneer with Informant…the tooltip says “Quest Item” in it sometimes…is that what you mean? I thought your addon might show more info than that.

If you look those Quest Item items up on wowhead or thottbot, they should be able to tell you what quests they’re for. If it doesn’t say “Quest item” in the tooltip, it’s not one and you don’t have to look it up. I would keep an eye out for “Used for: xxxxx”, though, if you’re leveling a tradeskill.

My lvl 50 human pally is ret specced, but I’ve started a prot specced draenei pally.

Speaking of my pally, I had her take Enchanting as one of her professions when she started out, along with Blacksmithing — she was my first toon and I obviously didn’t know what I was doing at the time. I quickly traded Blacksmithing for Tailoring when I realized I needed raw materials and couldn’t afford to buy them at the AH. And now, finally, I dumped Enchanting and replaced it with Mining. I got frustrated with trying to level Enchanting. I had accumulated piles of materials from disenchanting things, but I wasn’t up for buying things on the AH that I was never going to use just to enchant them. As a result I had all sorts of materials for enchanting, but no “recipes” to use them in since my skill lvl wasn’t high enough. So I just sold off all my enchanting materials and bought a mining pick.

As for quests … I know it probably goes somewhat against the intent of the game, but one change I’d like to see is more options for solo players. I’ve got no interest in PvP and thus no interest in Arena, little interest in BGs, and at this point I’m not seeing any appeal in raiding. Or, basically, anything that forces me into group play, like instances. Of course, I realize I’m shutting myself off from obtaining a lot of top-notch gear with my position, but I can accept that.

What I’d like to see is more quest chains with cool rewards that can be completed and wrapped up without having to enter an instance. I just find it really frustrating when I follow an interesting and lengthy quest chain, soloing it all the way through, only to come smack up against an instance at the end that I can’t hope to complete without either rounding up a bunch of other players with whom I’m unfamiliar, or waiting until I reach a high enough level that I can solo it but can’t get a lick of XP or useful rewards from it.

For comparison, when I played Diablo II I never had any interest in endless Mephisto/Baal runs.

Another thing that’s starting to bug me is when I enter a new zone and go around to the questgivers, it seems half of them want to immediately send me to the other side of the world. I mean, c’mon, I just got here! How about giving me quests that involve exploring _this_ zone, you know, the one you live in? I don’t mind if a quest chain eventually ends up making me travel, but I think the first two or three quests in a chain should stick to the zone the questgiver is in. Half the reason my quest logs are so cluttered is that questgivers in a single zone have sent me flying in too many different directions. I guess it’s an issue of verisimilitude for me. It seems sensible to me that, having just entered a new zone, _these people don’t know me or anything about me._ So send me out on a few jobs like, “Hey, you look like you can fight. We’ve been having a problem with murlocs/gnolls/troggs/whatever. Could you whack 'em for us?” IOW, give me some tasks that let me prove myself and gain your trust (and, conveniently, allow me to explore the zone), and _only then_ send me halfway around the world to recover some priceless artifact. I mean, seriously, if I wanted a priceless family heirloom recovered from a distant location, I’d first be certain the person I’m sending was trustworthy and dependable. Otherwise, what’s to stop them from recovering the item and then just selling it to the highest bidder for more than the reward I’m offering (besides a game mechanic that makes it impossible to do so)? All this would require is adding something other than a simple level check before offering these quests.

When you say “sold off”, do you mean you vendored them or that you put them on the AH? Because I know that a year or so ago, anyway, you could make some money off of disenchant product on the AH.

Placed on the AH. I shouldn’t have said “sold off”, since I’ve not yet checked back to see if any of it has actually sold, but you get the picture 😉

I’m sorry, maybe I’m not going far enough. I keep seeing birds and coyotes and goretusks and I’m trying to keep to the “green” (grasslands) along the river.

About going to Ironforge, I have tried going to Kharanos, but it looks like it’s “out of reach” to me - if that makes sense. The last time I tried, though, I didn’t have questhelper, so I have made some notes and will try again on Monday.

Thanks

Quai

Not the shore of the river. The shore of the ocean. Follow the river NORTH when you go over the bridge from the Hogger area. That’s the shoreline we’re talking about.

To get to Kharanos, you have to go out of the Gates of Ironforge. You can find where the Auction House is in IF, right? Well, if you stand in front of that (facing the AH) and then go to either the left or the right, you will see two large tunnel entrances, one on either side of the AH. Go through one of those, and you will come to the gates. You have to go down the mountain to the bridge, then over the bridge and keep on the road south. Kharanos is not too far.

Of course. But sometimes I want to know which quests the items are for, and it’s a pain to look up each one.
