Where does this rank among the big corporate scandals? What exactly is going on? On CBS Marketwatch, the headline for the WorldCom story is in letters whose size suggests a news event of the magnitude of global thermonuclear war.
Well maybe it’s not quite that catastrophic, but surely there must be something fishy up when they’re talking about almost $4 billion in fraud.

Well, after a major boom, when followed by a bust, these sorts of scandals fall out all over the place. So as for how big it is? Hard to say without a historical perspective, ask again in a year.
Oh, and **WorldCon** has had its share of scandals as well, but nothing corporate. 😉 You might want to ask and have the title changed.

The Godfather, Don Vito Corleone used to say “A lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than 100 men with guns”
I guess that should be updated to “A CEO with his briefcase can steal more than a MILLION men with guns.”

Not me. I couldn’t get the days off at work. (An employee with more seniority got it. Damn! Damn damn damn!) I was pissed about that, so I took Christmas week off instead.

That sucks Yosemitebabe, I only had to worry if someone with more seniority wanted the whole week. Since an entire week takes precedence over 1 or 2 days, I usaully get the time. 🙂

I predict that WorldCom will rival Enron in terms of lives ruined and monies lost, although it lacks the political intrigue.
I also predict that no one will pay much attention because everyone is too busy being uber-patriotic again about this stupid pledge thing.
