Alvin Greene. Didn’t win, but he did secure the official democratic party nomination slot for congressman, and got a lot of media attention. He clearly did not have a whole lot going on upstairs.
Tom Cruise. Lots of celebrities are into scientology but he’s particularly evangelical about it which puts him over the top.
Ben Stein. I don’t know what the hell happened to this guy. Either his perceived intelligence was a lie and he really was dumb enough to seriously make that Intelligent Design movie, or he knew it was BS but was cynically cashing in on it. If the latter, it was still a dumb move as it completely tarnished his reputation.

Paris Hilton has made a bunch of cash from tv and her perfumes adding to her family $$$ and she just seems like she’s can’t-boil-water-dumb.
Sarah Palin and Donald Trump are dumb because they have no curiosity and don’t care about facts. Neither has much interest in opposing points of view. Donald Trump is dumb for running a casino into bankruptcy several times.
I have no idea how intelligent she is, or even if she is a good singer, or how much of the success is hers and how much she just lends her name, but Jessica Simpson’s clothing company is a BILLION dollar business.

If the voting is for “Stupidest-seeming person who has achieved financial success” then I have to change my vote to Jessica Simpson. I only saw one episode of her reality show, but it was really, really scary how dumb she was. Some of what I saw could be chalked up to an extremely sheltered life (Eating Chicken of the Sea tuna "Is this chicken I have here? What is it?) but the majority was just dumb as a post. I couldn’t bear to watch the whole thing.
If that’s not an act, she should have a legal guardian.
I can’t believe nobody’s mentioned Snooki and the “Situation” from Jersey Shore. This pair doesn’t have two brain cells to rub together, but they’ve made millions by essentially being dumbasses on TV. What a world.
Arnold Schwartzenegger has to be in the top three succesful dumbasses of all time.
Made millions in movies, married a Kennedy, elected Governor, couldn’t do shit on office, fathered a child on the side, getting divorced, alienated his kids, lost his movie deals (for now anyway).

Rudy Guliani is also up there. Essentially unsuccesful and unpopular mayor of NYC with no significant accomplishments to his name and then whammo. He played a great father figure for awhile and has milked it ever since.
