Worst band of the Seventies?

This is very true. I don’t know a thing about music, so my opinion about them means less than nothing. I just didn’t like what I heard.

Just pointing out there is a big difference between “I don’t like” and “They have no talent”.

Agreed, almost all of them had *some *songs I like.

It’s the 70s. No disco bands??? Was the OP alive in the 70s?

His User Profile lists him as 56 years old. But from North Carolina … hmmm, that could be the root of the problem.

KISS. No other band comes close. Any garage band was better.

 I hadn’t even thought about that! Although, there are usually even some disco songs I remember fondly. So far, the only genre that I haven’t been able to grab *something *from seems to be rap.

Does Captain and Tenille count as a band, because if so, that would have been my real vote.

2nd. All of those bands were at least OK, and quite a few are really good. Where’s Foghat or Molly Hatchet?

Lots of KISS bashing here which is quite understandable, but I saw the Destroyer tour from twelfth row center and it was one of the greatest rock concerts of my life.

Maybe the Village People were his favorite band?

Of course I would rate them as the worst but to me they weren’t even a band.

You’ve picked 9 bands I still love today, 10CC being the only one I was never that into.

Having lived through the 70s and suffered through Abba, The Partridge Family, The Osmonds, The Poppies, Air Supply, The Carpenters as well as countless other bits of bad pop and bad metal which were much more popular, nay, omnipresent, I’m also wondering why you chose to pick on all the prog rock that took a significant effort to track down in my home town…

The dude has a hard-on against prog rock. No accounting for taste.

Did you see Emerson Lake and Palmer when they played in Kitchener?

No, I was in Winnipeg at the time.

A dear friend of mine was part of the Montreal Symphony/OSM chorus that was on tour with them in 77, and I’m still jealous.

My memory is vague, but I don’t think they ever played Winnipeg before 1993.

I knew before looking that, among the bands listed, the worst would be either 10cc or Rush. But in reality, none of them were bad bands.

Did the OP really mean to say, “Which was the least popular among these immensely successful and popular bands?”

No, I meant to say “All of these bands sucked, but which was the worst?”.

Several of the other bands mentioned knew they were just a pop band singing silly songs. Kiss was pretty bad IMO, but they have always just been in it for the money and the girls. The bands I mentioned generally considered themselves to be above rock & roll. Rock & roll is the beat. If you want to embark on a deeper exploration of musical structures, become a jazz player.

Yes, I was an adult in the Seventies.

i.e. Muffin was correct.

That makes slightly more sense. However, no one here evidently agrees with you that all (or even most) of the bands on the list sucked.

So seriously, what did you like? Disco? Country? Captain & Tenille?

Yeah, they kinda bit as a “solo” act. But they were a major component of this great ( well good, anyway ) live album.
