It’s a joke here and in other food threads. Have a food someone doesn’t like? Deep fry it (beer battered mushrooms anyone?) and it’ll pass. For drinks, it’s often add sugar or add booze, and all of a sudden, passable. Which seems to be part of Zima’s brief popularity upthread, along with various very “mild” flavored beers, and wine coolers. Mitigate strong tastes, or cover them up with something else, and hit a new market that previously wasn’t available. ---

Every bar buys a bottle of Campari and a century later when that bar closes that bottle of Campari is passed to the next owner of another bar. I have almost two decades of bartending experience and I have never made anything with it by order. ---

**Tranya,** or the pink grapefruit juice that portrays it in STOS Corbomite Maneuver as it tasted to 7-yo Clint Howard. I wouldn’t make a 7-yo kid drink grapefruit juice at home, much less an a set with a tight production schedule, but little Clint was a trooper. ---

This is aside the OP, I can’t remember what the drink was was, but the one thing I can readily recall Andrew Zimmern from Bizarre Foods actually saying he didn’t like to the camera was a particular warm drink. I remember thinking they must not have been nice to him. ---

Only a few years bartending here, but I’ve used compari a few times. But yeah, exceedingly rarely. Now, Galliano on the other hand…we always joked that would be the first bottle to grab to use as a weapon (because it’s long, like a mini bat) and sure to be full. To be fair, I like Galliano. I went through a Harvey wallbanger phase. But not once did I ever serve it to anyone at work. Campari is just crap. ---

I got a 4-pack of some sort of diet rootbeer made with stevia. I like diet rootbeer okay, and don’t mind stevia in soft drinks, but this was vile and tasted nothing like rootbeer. Maybe like spoiled vanilla with varnish. I drank two because I couldn’t believe it was as bad as I thought it was. A few months later, a friend drank one and said it was okay, so I opened the last can. It was so disgusting I spit it out and poured the rest down the drain. ---

Wow, y’all are really cosmopolitan (compared to me, anyway). My list of unfit for human consumption beverages is limited to Red Bull, Jaegermeister, and Southern Comfort. Oh, and buttermilk (in its liquid form. As a baking ingredient, it’s awesome). ---

If Slithy Tove doesn’t like it, they don’t like it. It does have an awfully strong, sour flavor. I like grapefruit more as a flavoring than as a main ingredient. ---

I know it’s been mentioned, but I must bring it up again: **Tab**. I remember the taste from back in the 70s as if I had a sip yesterday. Made with saccharin, I’m guessing. Vile. Tastes like rust juice. And, some of you are gonna want to shoot me for this, but **egg nog**. Gag. mmm ---
