Because, some of us like to watch movies AND read books. Movies are not the enemy of books Pyrrhonist, and the adaptation of Of Mice and Men to the screen by Gary Sinise and Co. was FANTASTIC. I loved the book to no end, AND I loved the movie, which in itself was small, simple, lacking glamour or “hollywoodness”, and was VERY true to the story.
Gary Sinise did it because he loved John Steinbeck and his writing so much he wanted to pay tribute to it. Acting and directing are Mr. Sinise’s greatest assets (next to his smoldering good looks) and this was an excellent way of admiring the book by Steinbeck. It isn’t meant to replace it.
