I’m not the best judge of this because in general I avoid them. But I know how bad _Scrooged_ is. I hadn’t seen it in ages because I saw in new in the theater and hated it then. But horror dims over time. Today AMC was running the film over and over and over, and I thought WFT, I like Bill Murray and Karen Allen, and there’s nothing on but crap anyway, and maybe it’s not as bad as I remember. But it was. ---

**Santa Baby 2: Christmas Maybe**. Saw it on Netflix streaming and decided it would be funny to watch (we like bad movies and we were drunk). Oh. My. God. It is bad. Sooo bad. If you have Netflix, totally watch a few minutes. It sort of sucks you in, with its incredible badness. How can it be so bad? I sort of love it. ---

I’m shooting back with [One Magic Christmas](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089731/). I saw it for the first time on Christmas Eve with my kids as a gift from my MIL even though it is a 1985 film. This is what I can remember of the “highlights”: 1. Dad is laid off of work 2. Family is being evicted from company house on December 25th. 3. In weeks leading up to Christmas, the company owner brings new employees to view the house at random times to show them where they will be living. 4. Mom works as grocery store checker with a d-bag boss 5. Bathroom floods due to a phone call letting them know something irrelevant to the story. 6. But at least they aren’t as bad as this poor girl down the street whose mom has to put back the makings for Christmas dinner because they went over the $25 food stamp limit. 7. Dad wants to use final savings to start a bike store (in the middle of winter???) 8. Dad goes to bank and is SHOT in heart (and dies) by bank robber when mom comes in to stop him from withdrawing money and scares the bank robber. 9. Bank robber steals mom’s car with her two children in back seat. 10. cop car rams stolen car to stop him but pushes car off the bridge into icy water instead killing all three people. 11. mom is fired for leaving job to go stop dad’s withdrawal So to sum up: 4 deaths, 2 kidnappings, 2 job losses Oh wait, I forgot to mention, Harry Dean Stanton plays an angel who orchestrates the chaos in order to teach the mother to cheer up and feel christmassy. So time is reversed and dead come back to life-- mom stops bankrobber by giving him cash to buy his kids some Xmas toys. This thing comes across as “Ramona Quimby meets Freddy Kruger” I understand that the other movies mentioned are bad movies, but this monstrosity was made to teach a Christmas lesson… to kids. Not to mention that the angel is someone that I told my kids that they should run screaming away from as he is the creepiest character I’ve ever encountered. I’d volunteer to send it to anyone who wanted it, but I’d have to go get it out of the dumpster first. ---

Wow. I’m still gonna throw in [It Nearly Wasn’t Christmas](http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097601/), but there’s no way anything could top the howler in **Disheaval** ’s post. Even Job would be all “Y’know what, God? F\*ck it. I’m going back to worshipping Ba’al” after either going through that kind of experience or having to watch it. ---

I didn’t hate Scrooged, but it had some mediocre moments. Most modern Christmas movies sucked. Bad Santa gets a lot of love here, but I did not like it at all. Christmas at the Kronks was bad. That one with Danny Devito and Matthew Broderick sucked. ---

I would still rather watch this than It’s a wonderful Life ever again. ---

I only know it by reputation, but [Christmas with the Kranks](http://thatguywiththeglasses.com/videolinks/teamt/fbv/bmbe/15150-ep017) is the first thing that comes to mind. [One reviewer](http://www.mrcranky.com/movies/christmaswiththekranks.html) kindly describes it as “essentially a communist propaganda film” (in the “this is the face of the enemy” sense), and “like watching a dead body being devoured by maggots.” ---

Why the hate for Scrooged? I hate all Xmas movies except Bad Santa, but Scrooged seems pretty much par for the course for those kinds of movies. ---

I somehow thought the dad died in a coal mine cave-in & was tempted to get the movie to get things straight & see if it was as bad as I remembered. But you forgot the WORST part! Doesn’t Angel Dean Stanton put the Time-Reversal-Resurrection job into the hands of SANTA CLAUS, whose workshop is staffed by the spirits of the kindly dead? WTF twisted Theology is this?!? ---

I think 80% of Christmas-related movies and TV is mediocre crap, churned out and put out there just because it’s Christmas, there’s no new programming, it’s something to have on TV in the background when you’re doing some Christmas chore, and it’s cheap enough. The other 20% of Christmas movies and TV - half is wonderful, and half is appalling. ---
