I grew up in the '80s. Where to begin… Big teased up bangs and blue eyeshadow. Stirrup pants. With your socks on the outside, scrunched down to the ankle. Ankle boots - aka Peter Pan Puddle Jumpers. When I was 12 I had a rat’s tail. A long one. In my 20’s the fashion was to wear a bodysuit as a shirt - they were tight with snaps at the crotch. ---

I actually injured myself trying to run in bellbottoms and clogs, so I’ll go with those. Although one good thing about wearing bellbottoms and clogs at the same time is that if your clogs flew off as you walked the bellbottom would catch them. You just shouldn’t ever try to run, that’s a face-plant waiting to happen. ---

Mismatched (as in, one pink, one yellow) dayglo socks with a linen _Miami Vice_-style suit, pink t-shirt and deck shoes. And wet-look hair. It was '86. No pictures are allowed to exist. ---

It was the early to mid 70’s. It seems they may be back in style again, so just don’t wear them with clogs. ---

White 'fros in the 70’s were really really bad. The new wave skinny ties from the 80’s seem ludicrous now. Having your sunglasses on some sort of chain was pretty bad in the 80’s (I used a shoelace once, lol), but nowhere near as bad as today’s 1) having the ends of the bows resting on your ears but letting the rest of the frame droop down under your chin, 2) wearing them backwards on your head 3) wearing them on top of the bill of your baseball cap which leads naturally to the crooked bill cap and leaving the fucking sticker on it. ---

I wore bodysuits as well, but I liked them so I don’t consider them one of the worst fashion trends I participated in. They gave a nice smooth look to the shirt and the guys really liked them. At least my husband did. they were annoying to wear though. I think that belongs to the overalls from the late 80s early 90s and the pleated front jeans from the same era. Why were we all wearing jeans that emphasized the front pooch? (Or gave you one when you didn’t have one of your own.) ---

In the 70’s I had a gold chain with a medallion type thing. Not too big or actual gold. Being a little kid it seemed like that lasted forever before I lost it but it was probably only a couple of weeks. Looking back, I feel like such a jive turkey. ---

Huge shoulder pads with everything. If something didn’t come with shoulder pads, I had a set of foam rubber ones I could use. Hell, sometimes I used them WITH things that came with shoulder pads. The bigger the shoulders, the narrower the waist looks, right? ---

As for me, I had the rat tail, various permutations of shaved hair plus perm with giant plastic glasses, and the dreaded leggings and wide-shouldered tunic. I’d like just to blame it on the 80s, but I think some people escaped more unscathed than I did. ---

In junior high school in the 60s, we wore poncho shirts. I can’t find an image, but they had pointy hems at the bottom so they were designed to be worn untucked. Which violated our school’s dress code, dammit.
