[hijack] SNL once did a commercial for a logo design company, featuring Rick Moranis. The cold weather must have scrambled my brains, because I can’t find it with my google fu. Anyway, the commercial goes on to show how a good logo can work for your company, and shows some successful and not-so-successful designs, before it ends with the design companies own utterly indecipherable logo. Anyone got a link to it, by chance? [/hijack] ---

I watched a video last night that made me re-run the final production credits. It was for something like Dodge Brothers, and the d and b and something else were run together, and the stem of the d rose up, and it looked so much like someone flipping you off with the right hand that I find it extremely hard to believe it wasn’t an inside joke. ---

I posted this one yesterday in its own thread in MPSIMS, that dropped like a rock. Back to New Jersey. They have some of the worst state signs and logos of any state I can think of. The two biggest are the ones already mentioned (the turnpike and the parkway), but I always hated the [state police logo](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Jersey_State_Police) also. It goes nicely with the worst state police uniforms in the country. ---

As for some sports teams, how about: The [Quebec Nordiques](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:QuebecNordiques.svg). What the hell is that, anyway? An elephant hitting a puck? A funky lower case “n” with a hockey stick and puck? No one seems to know. The [Portland Trailblazers](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Portland_Trail_Blazers.svg). Not exactly hideous, but again, what the hell is it? The old [Vancouver Canucks](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:VancouverCanucks1970s.png) (a hockey stick in a rink. Wow.) The old [Cleveland Browns](http://images.dailyradar.com/media/uploads/ballhype/story_large/2008/12/15/browns_logo.png) “pixie” The Pittsburgh Penguin [mail truck](http://www.sportslogos.net/images/logos/1/24/full/3102.gif) logo. The [California Golden Seals](http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/logos/nhl/calsea73.gif). The [Anaheim Mighty Ducks](http://www.babble.com/CS/blogs/famecrawler/2009/05/anaheim_ducks.gif) logo. Makes sense, they’re the Trailblazers, right? ---

Car manufacturers are among the worst.
