This is the last line of each of the first two verses then the chorus:

And there’s the shift from the present tense

I thought Van Morrison was saying: “ **Hey there amigo…** ” instead of “Hey where did we go…”, In Brown Eyed Girl.

I always thought Louis Armstrong was saying: "Bright blessed day, **dogs say goodnight** , instead of “…dark sacred night”, in What A Wonderful World.
