August _sucks_. No hockey and no basketball and the off-road racing season is on hiatus all month. I don’t care about baseball or football, so for me the whole month of August is a sports wasteland. ---

It depends what you are a fan of in the US. I mostly follow MLS, followed by college football, and then motorsports (NASCAR/Formula 1). So July is fine for me. February is kind of dull though. ---

Sports Illustrated has said that there’s a reason why they release the Swimsuit Issue in February. They got nothing else to fill the pages with. ---

I thought you were perhaps one of those football fans who only watch British Premier League or something like that. AFAIK, MLS is the only top level league with a schedule from March to October. The rest do September to May or something like that. ---

The Scandinavian leagues are understandable. The main reason MLS does spring to fall is they don’t want to be playing games in January in places like Chicago, Columbus and Toronto. Just too cold, which it would probably be in Norway and Sweden, too. For Brazil, September to May _is_ spring to fall. Unless you mean they play March to October, which would be fall to spring down there. That actually makes more sense in their climate. ---

At least, not as much as in Scandinavia and the three cities mentioned. ---

The dearth of US sports has the nice side-effect of CFL football showing up on ESPN2. They’ve carried it in the past between NFL/NBA combine/draft/yak-shaving/etc. coverage.
