“Spies”: A ripoff (thematically) of the Airplane movies, just an excuse for dirty jokes. I agree with “Austin Powers II”. Was “The Big Lebowski” supposed to be a comedy? I’d like to hunt down the guy who thought Clint Eastwood could do comedy. “Any Which Way But Loose” and “Any Which Way You Can”. Just plain bad. ---

I am properly chastened. I guess I’d manage to block all conscious memories of Jim Varney and Burt Reynolds. And, oh my god, The Beverly Hillbillies movie! Oh man, the floodgates have opened. Transylvania 6-5000. Hooper. Any of those kid-parent/black-white body swapping movies. What’s that Billy Bob/John Cusack air traffic control movie? And Space Balls? And Four for Texas? The Addams Family Chronicles? You know, besides the priceless treasures that rotted away in vaults since the 1920’s, a lot of awful crap that we don’t know how lucky we are not to have seen it also rotted away. With new storage technologies, we may never escape today’s shitty movies. ---

I might have beaten all of you in the worst movie comedy ever. I see about 5 movies a month and am very easy to please. I liked “Meet the Parents”. Watching any of the aforementioned Chevy Chase or Burt Reynolds movies is an easy excuse for failing to clean my apartment. So when I offer you “Mr. Mike’s Mondo Video”, please note when I tell you that it’s not worth the film it was printed on. I saw it about 20? years ago with the hope that it was a collection of Saturday Night Live skits that were too racy to show even on Saturday Night Live. All the movie had to offer was a series of unrelated skits that were too stupid for Saturday Night Live. Don’t you think there’s a reason this piece of crap isn’t ever shown on network or cable TV? My only consolation is that I only paid $2.00 matinee to see it. And I was young . . . that’s it, I was too young to know any better. ---

The most freqent theme I see is the SNL/Michaels comedy factory throwing out lots of garbage. Any many of their alumni have gone on to produce their own garbage, notably Chevy Chase and the second overdosing fat guy, whoever. To be fair, the’ve produced a lot of GREAT stuff. And even a lot of the stuff we hate, is because they drive every idea into the dirt eventually. I actually liked: Blues Brothers I & II; The Coneheads; Stuart Saves His Family; Wayne’s World; and maybe a few more I can’t come up with now. Is there a list somewhere of all SNL spinoff movies? ---

If we’re talking about “Worst Comedy of a Decade,” I would point out that “Freddy Got Fingered” has to be up there for the naughts (or whatever the hell we’re gonna call the '00s). I remember the thread that was started on that one, and I haven’t seen such a virulent lynchmob mentality outside the BBQ pit. I mean, Chevy Chase and Burt Reynolds and even Ernest has their defenders (and let me add that I saw Ernest play a dramatic character in a very bad “Dirty Dozen” type picture that Max Allen Collins was dragooned into writing a few years back. He played a greasy gun salesman, sort of like a punker version of “M” and he was a relief to see him, the movie was that bad. Anyway, to get off my self-hijacking, nobody stood up for “Freddy.” Not even the hardcore fans. Jeeze that was a stinker-roo. ---

I think it is the general belief that no one actually saw “Freddy Got Fingered”: it did so badly at the box office, but unfortunately I did. I have seen about 95 percent of the afore mentioned movies suggested by fellow members of the teaming millions as the worst ever film comedy. Most seem like works of art compared to this Tom Green pile of compost. One can only hope that no one will let him be as prolific as a Reynolds or Varney. ---

Well, of course everyone has the right to their own opinion. But if you’re talking “ **worst** ever” I’d presume we’d limit the field somewhat, and perhaps limit it to movies that critics hated too (as opposed, to, say comedies which some people loved and others just didn’t–like Fargo, The Big Lebowski, etc.) And I know some critics liked the acting in Three Amigos–I recall in particular one being utterly charmed by the scene with Martin Short, telling the story of being praised by a Gish. Personally, I still use the “kiss me on the verandah” line a coupla times a year. Tee hee. ---

Answer: Mafia! **Spy Hard** - Weird Al theme song, Leslie Nielsen in a starring role… and it sucked big time. **Something About Mary** - Yes I dare. I was bored all through that movie, when I wasn’t grossed out. Something About Mary was “Good”? Only if good is a synonym for “Craptastic”.
