Yeah, I avoid most movies that are truly bad, so all my choices are movies I hoped would be great, but were massive disappointments. Absolute horrible movies tend to never be seen by me, but here is what I saw that I thought were bad.

The winner:

\*\*Jurassic World \*\*- The only truly horrible movie I saw released this year. I was in shock so much I thought it was OK. No, it’s a bad movie. I’m depressed this director was picked for Episode IX, but my hope is that it will be fine.

The rest:

**Spectre** - A movie made before the script was ready to be filmed. It’s not outrageously incompetent throughout, but the final 45 minutes or so are very poorly written and there is no way a movie should have gone into production with this script. Daniel Craig’s worst Bond movie. Then again, I love Quantum of Solace, so take that for what it is worth.

\*\*Sicario \*\*- Some are listing this as one of the best. And it is right up my alley. My wife and I both thought it was 90% snooze-fest. Not fans at all. Bad script, badly edited. Loved Prisoners, the previous film from this director.

\*\*Good Kill \*\*- I adore Lord of War, but this was subpar. It’s a fairly predictable, but well-made movie about drone attacks. I feel bad listing it as a “worst” movie, but you can tell it aspired to greatness, but ended up with adequateness.

**Cinderella** - Boring. Not creatively made at all. Just a forgetable retelling of the story. Skip it big time.

I realize now I have forgotten one of the most obvious ones.

Hateful Eight - I have not seen the extended 70MM release, but the 2 hour 45 minute regular release is…very bad. I’m a huge Tarantino supporter, but this is his worst movie. Overlong. It’s obviously a 90-120 minute movie that is overblown. The major reveal of what is going on comes far too late and the entire opening with the carriage in the snow could be removed. It begs to be edited down a lot. A major slipup in an otherwise great career. Hugely disappointing.

I guess I meant worst movie people have seen. I know the lowest reviewed movies or at least how to find them. I was curious what people personally have found to be the worst.

The Vacation remake/sequel was complete garbage.

Pixels was terrible but at least had fun special effects.

I also agree that Jurassic World was bad, started a thread on it in fact, but it was not the worst I saw this year.

Jurassic World is not the worst movie of the year, nor even the worst successful movie of the year.
Fifty Shades of Grey came out this year, remember.

I would very much like to know why you were so disappointed in T.H.E.

You said the reveal came far too late. You also said the entire opening could be removed and that it begs to be edited down a lot.

I thought it was one of the best films I had ever seen. I thought it was hugely entertaining. But I really would like to know if you have any other reasons why you thought it was a bad film.

Clearly I disagree with you. But I’d like to hear any other of your reasons so that I could take issue with them. I’m not trying to attack you or demean you. I’d just like to understand if that is OK with you.

I’m a Tarantino fan. Loved all his movies except Jackie Brown and Death Proof. Hateful Eight was just badly written and edited. It was easily a 90-120 minute movie extended to 3 hours. I and my wife both found it profoundly unentertaining and surprisingly, dull. I’m not sure what else to say. We’re very disappointed.

JA was not a good movie but I give credit to people that swing for the fences and miss and that was a huge swing.

The worst movie I saw was “Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip” which I only saw because I love my kids enough to indulge them but not enough to protect them from pure cinematic garbage. Tony Hale is one of my most favorite actors and he seriously owes me money. John Waters has a cameo in this movie. There is a “Pink Flamingos” joke. Dear Lord.

The second worst movie I saw in theaters was “Sicario.” Seriously, this is not a good movie. The FX television series “The Bridge” was better than this, and even that was only half decent. What a colossal waste of Emily Blunt and Benecio Del Toro.

Yes, it was waaaaaaaay too long, and the story itself was not at all compelling or even interesting. One example is the part

where the guy under the floor gets his head blown off – it was perfunctory, not slightly surprising and seemed rather insignificant to the overall plot

I guess my HS English teacher would have described the story as “forced”. It had no natural flow to it. For me, the upside was the realistic depiction of life in that time period, but even that was a tad on the weak side.

> At one point in _The Road Chip_, Alvin the talking, singing, wiseass chipmunk finds himself seated on a plane in first class next to the director John Waters, who stares at him disapprovingly. Alvin thinks it’s because Waters is unused to seeing a chipmunk traveling in first class, but Waters shuts that idea down. “Actually, I recently rode next to the Chipettes,” the director sniffs, noting the name of Alvin’s fellow all-girl chipmunk pop band, “and _they_ were _ladies_.” To which Alvin retorts, “Don’t judge me. I saw Pink Flamingos.”

From this review: [Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip Has Meta Poop Jokes for the Whole Family](http://www.vulture.com/2015/12/review-alvin-and-the-chipmunks-the-road-chip.html)

The review lies; the movie is aggressively bad, even by the low, low standards of disposable kiddie movies. I was dragged to Hotel Transylvania 2 this year, so I know how awful it can get down at the bottom of the barrel.

Of the movies I saw this year, which wasn’t too many as I tend to get scared away by an onslaught of bad reviews, the worst was _Terminator Genisys_. It had loads of action and it tried really hard to do everything right, but instead managed to get everything wrong.

Disappointments, but not actually bad, also include _Inside Out_, _The Martian_, and _Avengers Age of Ultron_.

Movies that also weren’t good but were better than most people gave them credit for: _Mortdecai_, _Tomorrowland_, and _Paul Blart Mall Cop 2_.

The rest pretty much fell where you’d expect.

Entourage was indeed bad. It was basically just an episode of the TV but a bad episode of the TV show which got terrible in its own right. When they showed the clip of Vinnie Chase’s craptastic movie and everyone kept talking about how brilliant it was with no irony, I knew I was in trouble.
