Any movie in which the title is perfectly clear in the book yet that scene is omitted from the movie-

Thus,

A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

some versions of
THE WIND IN THE WILLOWS
I’d like to nominate Lucky Number Slevin. It’s like they started with a title, tweaked it a bit, and worked backwards to an unlikely and unpronounceable character name.

Contrived & unpronounceable.

Like _Se7en_. “Se-seven-en?”

Didn’t any one ever see the classic Lord Love a Duck ,with Tuesday Weld when she was still all shiny and pretty.

The idiocy of _Se7en_ and other such “gimmick” titles reminds me of something that is a pet peeve of mine: using non-Roman letters in the movie title logo to represent a sound that has nothing to do with the letter used. Examples:

MY BIG FAT GRΣΣK WEDDING. Sigma is an S. So what should say “Greek” says “Grssk.”

ΛTLΛNTIS: The Lost Empire. Lambda is an L, oh brilliant Disney marketers. Your lost continent is apparently called “Ltllntis.”

Yeah, yeah, we get that you want the title to be dripping in Greekness, but now you’ve misspelled the damn thing so that anybody with a drunk fratboy’s familiarity with Greek letters can spot it.
**Master and Commander: Far Side of the World** - a great film based on a good book. The title **Master and Commander** isn’t a great title for the book, but it sort of makes sense when mixed in with the titles from the rest of O’Brien’s naval series. It is an even worse title for the movie made especially bad by the addition of the lame **Far Side of the World**. Such an unecessary long and somewhat confusing title.
Actually, a great film based on **two** very good books- _Master and Commander_ and _The Far Side of the World_, which IIRC are about 9 books apart in an almost 20-book series.

Hence the long title- perhaps they used both to avoid criticism from fans who would point out that they were doing the wrong book! 😉

I overlooked the correct response, apparently. 🙂

**Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo**. Ugly name, ugly title and it’s got Rob Schneider in it. What a winning combo.
