I wouldn’t call it _bad_ exactly, but in the _Star Trek: The Next Generation_ first-season episode “The Battle”, they decided to make Picard’s old starship, the _Stargazer,_ a never-before-seen class of ship, a Constellation-class ship. They overdubbed Geordi’s line, which looks similar on-screen, in which he said Constitution-class, like Kirk’s _Enterprise._

When the Falcon lands on Yavin 4 and rebel leaders greet Leia. One says something like “When we heard about Alderaan we feared the worst.” … I consider this bad because that voice is soooo recognizable as Michael Bell…but that’s not Michael Bell saying it.

In _The Godfather_, Sonny warns Tessio to do a good job hiding the gun for Michael, because he doesn’t want Michael to come out of the men’s room with just his dick in his hand. In the TV cut a voice which sounded almost but not exactly like Sonny said “a stick.”

😆 Nice. I thought I was somehow the only person to notice that.
They are clearly good enough guitarists to be able to craft a decent solo when they want to, but most of the time, yeah, it’s just mindless noodling that has little to nothing to do with whatever they’re playing over. Again, they’re definitely good enough musicians to know better, which means it has to be intentional.

AIUI, GBU was filmed in mostly Italian except for the American actors, but the entire script was re-recorded later in English and dubbed back into the film.

To my ear, “nothing but his dick in his hand” (the actual dialog) and “nothing but a stick in his hand” are pretty damned close.

In Dr. Strangelove, when Slim Pickens is going through the survival kit contents check, at the end he says “Heck, a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff.” Because of Kennedy’s assassination they overdubbed “Vegas”, but the dub is pretty obvious.

The solos sound like they were recorded separately, and put on the shelf. Then when a track needs a solo, they just grab one off the shelf and drop it in. It’s like the tempo doesn’t match, and the fit always seems disjointed.

Y’know, there’s something that has always bothered me about Cream’s “Crossroads”, although I guess I’d call it a bad edit rather than a bad overdub. The transition from the end of the guitar solo to the final verse has always sounded wrong to me. Knowing that Cream was known for long jams, I’ve always assumed that they cut out several minutes of noodling right there, but it just seems so abrupt and obvious.

Speaking of that, I always wondered about the Darth Vader awkwardly gesticulating for a while to Moff Tarkin with no dialog, I always wondered if someone else noticed, some did, and the guys at the StackExchange report this answer:

I think Weaver’s dub was on purpose, it was meant to be noticable. It really can’t be missed, and I think it was done in the spirit of the original show, in which I’m sure she wouldn’t have had that written for her.
