My worst Valentine’s Day was 3 years ago. My (now ex) wife and I, along with our son, went to a friend’s wedding on February 14th. Things were fine during the ceremony, but we got into an argument when we returned home. She stormed out with our son, and headed over to her folk’s house. She’d done this a couple of times before, so I decided to go fishing the next day, so that both parties had time to cool off. I was gone most of the day. When I got back, I discovered that she’d called one of her sisters for help, and had cleaned the house out while I was gone. 13 years down the drain. Didn’t catch any fish that day, either. ---

I don’t have much to add that hasn’t already been said, but as shitty as being dumped on Valentine’s Day is, I have a friend whose girlfriend of about 2 years dumped him a few hours after his dad died following a long battle with cancer. But hang in there; I think for me, whenever I found myself single after long relationships, I felt fear more than anything else. Not sure what it was fear of-- maybe being alone forever, but you’ll get over the pain/fear/anger and have one have one hell of a battle scar, and chicks dig scars. As long as you don’t talk about the scar all the time. Happy ---

And I almost forgot about the rest of the story-- we took him out to the bar the next night to get his mind off things, and he got unwillingly caught in the middle of a bar fight, took a bottle to the side of his head and ended up spending the night in the ER with a mild concussion. All in all 'twas not a good week for this guy. But he survived and he’s happily hitched and concussion-free now for several years. ---
